"Carlson said that NCAA officials, legislators and the governor should meet to discuss the issue. Kelley had arranged a meeting Friday with Franklin and Mark Emmert, the NCAA's president, but the two officials declined after Kelley informed them the meeting might be open to the public."

WHY is the NCAA afraid of a public meeting?

Have you considered that or is it too hard of a concept for your tiny brain to grasp.
The most generally accepted scientific theory states that the first humans (defined as members of the genus Homo) originated in Africa. The oldest known fossil of a human ancestor (a female Ardipithecus ramidus specimen nicknamed "Ardi", 3.2 million years old) at a site called Aramis in the Middle Awash region of the Afar Desert in Ethiopia. Pre-human, hominid fossils have been found dating as far back as 6 million years in Chad.

See, they weren't really "NATIVE". Is that too hard of a concept for your tiny brain to grasp? How do you think they got to North America?

Can anybody explain to me how the University of Illinois can stay the Illini (Native American tribal name), Florida can stay the Seminoles with no reprucussions, but Marquette had to drop the Warriors from their names two years ago and North Dakota has to give up Sioux?

The big mouths in Washington, D.C. always want to change these names (I realize the NCAA isn't in Washington, D.C.) and yet they can get away with calling the NFL squad the "Redskins". Geez talk about a racist mascot!!!

Yes - that use of "soooo" is clever and a proper use of English and the period after "But" is as well.

I don't know about the other tribes but the Seminoles gave their permission for their name to be used.

Ummm. sarcasm bounced off this one. And, if you passed third grade 'grammar', that was proper use of english. Singular adverb. Predicive subject.

At least, it got your attention, as you head on out to another shift at Subway....

Easy explanation... Illinois and Florida are Division 1 schools. The NCAA will beat on the little guys to show how PC they are.

I am hoping UND tells the NCAA screw you, and just takes the team name and logo off their jerseys during NCAA tournaments. How often does UND host NCAA tournaments anyway? Would love to see Sioux fans screaming the team name in support of their nameless and logo-less team in NCAA tournaments. There is nothing the NCAA can do about games during the regular season, so keep the logo and name and jerseys for those games. Imagine next season: Fighting Sioux against Fighting Irish, one team emblazoned with their team name and logo, the other not.
