From the beginning it was silly of the ND lawmakers to think that their law was going to have any effect on the NCAA's policy.

The law required the attorney general to consider a lawsuit - that should be forthcoming. It's time these NCAA nazi's be dealt a beat-down.

So now the NCAA is above the law? Interesting. They'll probably be running the country in no time.

The courts have already sided with the NCAA. It comes down to this...if ND wants to play in NCAA contests, they follow their rules.

I really hope that once they've gotten North Dakota to buckle under they go after those other offensive logo's like "Fighting Irish", "Trojans", "Spartans", "Vandals" etc.

Oh they're not going to! Well I guess the NCAA is an organization of HYPOCRITS!

This is classic human stupidity, ND you're living on blood land, give them an ounce of respect and quit making fun of the original humans and fake them out as savages.

wonderful, now when can we expect to see the NCAA come out against the fighting irish? I'm irish and I think it's dishonorable the way they represent my heritage.

Have you ever met a full bloodies Irishman? They tend to not be concerned about what you think of them and most would rather have the reputation as a fighter.

They chickened-out and settled the suit. This time they shouldn't and prove how arbitrary their so-called rules really are.

"........for continuing to use a moniker the NCAA considers hostile to American Indians........"

So because the ncaa (not worthy or capitalization) deems it hostile, wait HOSTILE? When did that become the argument? Wasn't it because it was considered a slur or degrading? I truly hope ND says Foxtrot Uniform! It amazes me the ncaa thinks they have more power over state law. Granted, they can keep the name, they just wouldn’t be allowed to play in D-1 tourneys. Talk about ARR-O-GANCE!

What an epic waste of taxpayer money. Basically the government is forcing the school to keep a name. This is Big brother all the way. No doubt about it.
If also puts the school into a situation they now have no control over. Big Brother and Big Government all the way!

Who wants to be a go-pher ?
I wanted to find a college named after John Woodward Peck. I might have been a woodpecker. I get a woody now and then.
But worse of all for team would be those who beat a Rhodes Scholar aka Rhodes Killer.
Glad I was a Bison at Utter U in Fargo.

The fact that some of the Irish were involved in the slaughtering of Native Americans....

Have you considered that or is it too hard of a concept for your tiny brain to grasp.

Does this mean that Ralph Engelstad will get his $60,000,000.00 back? I believe that arena came with some very specific guidlines, can the school sue the NCAA for damages due to the removal of all logos?

It will come down to this. The courts will say that if you want to be in the NCAA, you will follow their rules.
