I don't smoke pot myself, but I do believe that it should be legalized. But as yet it is not, therefore it is a crime to use it, sell it, grow it, carry it, and yes, offer it as payment for clumsiness.

Police say Hanley bumped into a server at a local bar and spilled several drinks, then offered a bag of marijuana when another employee demanded payment. Authorities say Hanley became disorderly after being detained.

why was payment demanded when he "bumped into the server" it was an accident!

You need to re-read the article. It was not server clumsiness. The idiot was drunk and ran into the cocktail waitress... he was then asked to pay for the drinks, and offered the marijuana as payment... The bouncers detained him until police arrived, where he became crazed and kicked out the cop window. Here is the actual article from the Bismarck Tribune if you care to read the whole article. Once again the illustrious PP inadvertently leaves out information....

BTW....I was in the bar during the "incident" as I am a former resident and was back visiting relatives. Mr. Hanley was quite apparently intoxicated at the time. He was warned on two previous occasions not to touch the waitresses, the third time he "bumped" into the waitress, he knocke about 8 drinks off the tray she was carrying. The Assistant manager that had "warned" him previously about "hands-off" then asked for him to pay for the cost of the drinks that were knocked out of the waitresses hand. He refused to pay at that time. The manager and another employee approached Mr. Hanley to escort him out, but he did not want to leave, so he offered the baggie to them as payment for the drinks, so he could stay. All hell broke loose from there and he was detained until the police arrived.

The young man's actions seem to be more consistent with be impaired by alcohol (the kicking at the windows of the cop car, fighting, etc.) Ironic that the drug that actually causes less harm (pot) caused him the most harm by way of legal problems, and that his use of alcohol led him down that path. What an idiot to offer it up as payment. It's pretty accepted in society for the most part, but not all the way. Alcohol is champ in our society. What a shame.

And, this is the drug, marijuana, that Liberal Progressive Democrats support for legalization.

No, this is the drug that anyone who cares one iota if science and COMMON SENSE are utilized pertaining to drug laws wish to see legalized. Did you read the story? It happened at a BAR, and witnesses reported him to be intoxicated, likely on ALCOHOL. Are you now going to point out how the Republicans enjoy contributions from big alcohol? Come on, stop with the myopic, hypocritical partisan blather.
