I must admit that Romney made a much better showing than what I (and many others) thought that he would. Thus, since we had very low expectations, Romney exceeded them.

It is one debate and I am glad to see you making so much of it. Then you will overlook what Romney did not say. Such as his vague outline of what his plans are. I willingly admit it sounds like Romney really took the debate. I have the courage and fortitude to be able make that statement, I am not a Republican or a Neocon. But if you think this is it, I can only say we will see. You live in the past and I live in the present.
As I said last night, I called the debate a tie. And 32 percent agree with me.

Reading many articles carefully today, I have seen two interesting viewpoints getting some attention:

1. Numerous comments call Romney a "bully," or similar descriptive words. Being a "bully" or being condescending is NOT "presidential." I truly think that Romney over-played his hand in attacking the President. I have to wonder whether the president intentionally played to Romney's weakness and induced Romney to viciously attack, albeit without much factual ammunition, as is being analyzed and discussed now.

Romney is well-known for his perceived "wimp factor," and Romney is rightfully defensive about that. Maybe Romney's automatic response during last night's debate was to become an "attack dog," in an effort to prove that he is not ACTUALLY a "wimp." However, by overplaying his attack, Romney proved himself to be a "bully" and "non-presidential."

2. One article noted that President Obama played it extremely carefully, and as a result did not provide many "video clips" showing him out-of-touch with the reality of the world. By blustering about how much better the world would be with Mitt Romney, Romney automatically provided a lot of "video clips" showing him to be over-confident and egotistical about how things would REALLY go under his leadership.

The second debate will show whether I am correct in my assessment. If I am, we can look forward to President Obama again being quite passive and encouraging Romney to continue Romney's attack with numerous falsehoods and bravado. In other words, give Romney "plenty of rope."

Romney's win in the first debate is being gloriously praised as a great win. If I am correct, the second debate will also be gloriously praised as a great win. I believe that the script for this little three-act drama is that, in the third act, President Obama will unleash a massive debating attack upon Romney, calling out Romney's lies, gaffes, and lack of substantive capabilities and plans. The reason for President Obama's delayed attack?

The public only remembers the "final act" and the "final score." In the third debate, look for Romney getting his head handed to him on a silver platter. President Obama will unleash all of Romney's lies, and turn Romney's total lack of ability or managerial skills back upon Romney. THAT will not only be MEMORABLE -- it will also be DECISIVE!

The overall reaction to the debate is far more than the "knee-jerk" response to the event itself. The debate is still being fiercely dissected and analyzed. Romney's various inaccurate statements are being called to the attention of those of us who can read.
I still have not seen any serious polls about the results of the debate. So far, I have only heard the results of "opinion groups" consisting of 30 people, which technique fails several tests of accurate polling.
(I must add that those "opinion groups" gave President Obama the debate. Feel free to disagree. The serious polls will be available in a few days -- and should be starting to show the effects of additional analysis of the actual words spoken.
One curious statement by Romney was that he was used to having his sons lie to him. That's quite a statement by a father. I wonder who taught the boys to lie -- hmmmm?)
While your floating down the river "D-Nile" you might look for a dead fish in the water called Liberalism/Socialism/Obama. At least a few of the Obamaites saw what the rest of the country saw; an absolute "ass whooping."Have you ever seen Obama so overwhelmed? No teleprompter, no soft media protecting him, no canned speeches and BS rhetoric.Obama got OWNED by Romney and you know it and so do the viewers and so did Obama based on his body language and lack of eye contact. So the Republicans call this winning..........

Romney flatly disputed that number. "First of all, I don't have a $5 trillion tax cut," he said.

Who's right? The Washington Post's Fact Checker says the facts on this one are on Obama's side. The New York Times notes that Romney "has proposed cutting all marginal tax rates by 20 percent — which would in and of itself cut tax revenue by $5 trillion."

FactCheck.org has weighed in too, tweeting during the debate that "Romney says he will pay for $5T tax cut without raising deficit or raising taxes on middle class. Experts say that's not possible."

PolitiFact has given a "mostly true" rating to the charge that "Romney is proposing a tax plan "that would give millionaires another tax break and raise taxes on middle class families by up to $2,000 a year."

I was right about the debates. I was one of many who said Romney was going to mop the floor up with Obama and that was exactly what happened. He pounded Obama over the head with the economy and clobbered him.
Oh, "SPC," you are SO clever! Romney did mop the floor with the president.

Now the debates will move on to other policy areas.

The Oct. 16 debate will be in a town meeting format, and will include foreign and domestic policy.

The Oct. 22 debate will focus on foreign policy._8-)

Gore may well be correct. The president only had 2 hours to acclimate to the "mile-high" altitude of Denver. I know you have never been outside of Missouri (not counting Eureka Springs and Overland Park), so you are totally unaware of the effects of time zone changes and altitude changes.

AARP TO OBAMA: DON’T MENTION US AGAIN

President Obama invoked AARP to defend his health care law last night, prompting the influential group to release a statement telling him not to do that again.

“While we respect the rights of each campaign to make its case to voters, AARP has never consented to the use of its name by any candidate or political campaign,” the group posted in a statement.“AARP is a nonpartisan organization and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party.”

Obama can perhaps be forgiven for thinking he could mention AARP given how they coordinated with him to pass Obamacare, which is a golden goose for the organization.

“Thanks to its cuts to Medicare Advantage, Obamacare is expected to expand the number of seniors buying “medigap” supplemental insurance plans,” The Washington Examiner explained in an editorial.“AARP controls 34 percent of the market for such plans. According to a 2011 House Ways and Means Committee report, AARP stands to make between $55 million and $166 million from Obamacare in 2014 alone.”

■Romney claimed a new board established by the Affordable Care Act is “going to tell people ultimately what kind of treatments they can have.” Not true. The board only recommends cost-saving measures for Medicare, and is legally forbidden to ration care or reduce benefits.

■Romney accused Obama of doubling the federal deficit. Not true. The annual deficit was already running at $1.2 trillion when Obama took office.

■Romney claimed that middle-income Americans have “seen their income come down by $4,300.” That’s too high. Census figures show the decline in median household income during Obama’s first three years was $2,492, even after adjusting for inflation

Romney repeatedly claimed that a new government board was “going to tell people ultimately what kind of treatments they can have.” Not true

Fine job Mitt..........

OBAMA'S THREE-TIERED WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION PLAN: INDIVIDUAL, REGIONAL, AND GLOBAL

INDIVIDUAL REDISTRIBUTION
The first tier, taking their "fair share" of taxes from the rich, received early attention in the '08 campaign. It surfaced with notoriety in candidate Obama's street conversation with Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher. It's since become the linchpin for the president's and the Democrats' continuous engagement in class warfare.

REGIONAL REDISTRIBUTION
Kurtz's new book, entitled Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities, warns that Obama, driven by a community organizer's disdain for "white flight" from poor urban neighborhoods to suburbia, has aligned with like-minded community organizers -- e.g., Mike Kruglik and Kruglik's organization "Building One America" -- in a move to redistribute wealth from the suburbs to the inner city.
In a National Review online article, Kurtz wrote:

Obama is a longtime supporter of "regionalism," the idea that the suburbs should be folded into the cities, merging schools, housing, transportation, and above all taxation. To this end, the president has already put programs in place designed to push the country toward a sweeping social transformation in a possible second term. The goal: income equalization via a massive redistribution of suburban tax money to the cities.

Obama's plans to undercut the political and economic independence of America's suburbs reach back decades. The community organizers who trained him in the mid-1980s blamed the plight of cities on taxpayer "flight" to suburbia. Beginning in the mid-1990s, Obama's mentors at the Gamaliel Foundation (a community-organizing network Obama helped found) formally dedicated their efforts to the budding fight against suburban "sprawl." From his positions on the boards of a couple of left-leaning Chicago foundations, Obama channeled substantial financial support to these efforts. On entering politics, he served as a dedicated ally of his mentors' anti-suburban activism.

"Regional" redistribution -- the middle tier of Obama's three-tiered scheme for redistribution -- is about taking from the middle-class suburbs and giving to the poor inner city.

The centerpiece of the Obama administration's anti-suburban plans is a little-known and seemingly modest program called the Sustainable Communities Initiative. The "regional planning grants" funded under this initiative -- many of them in battleground states like Florida, Virginia, and Ohio -- are set to recommend redistributive policies, as well as transportation and development plans, designed to undercut America's suburbs.

As background to the notion of regional redistribution, it's worth noting how Michelle LaVaughn Robinson defined the purpose of her 1985 Princeton thesis written for her undergraduate degree from the school's Department of Sociology.

The purpose of this study is to examine various attitudes of Black Princeton alumni in their present state and as they are perceived by the alumni to have changed over time. This study tries to examine the following attitudes of alumni: the extent to which they are comfortable interacting with Black and with White individuals in various activities; the extent to which they are motivated to benefit the Black com-munity in comparison to other entities such as themselves, their families, God, etc.; the ideologies they hold with respects to race relations between the Black and White communities; and feelings they have toward the Black lower class such as a feeling of obligation that they should help improve the lives of this particular group of Blacks.
