sales are down. why can't they add the sheriff and state HW reports and court records?? readers want to know what happened in ironton , and there is no follow up on courts results !! why

Hi, Jenie! I wanted to address your comment about The Mountain Echo... We actually DO run arrests made by the Iron County Sheriff's Office, as we receive them. I go by the sheriff's office every Monday, at a minimum,to get the latest updates on arrests. The sheriff's office used to provide us a monthly activity report, but since they lost their secretary, they have not been made one available to us. We also run accident reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol on a weekly basis. Regarding court records, we are attempting to get these from the county's prosecuting attorney as we can. He works part-time in his position and has also dealt with personal and family illness. If I can be of further assistance, please call me at The Mountain Echo office.:-)

So Mr.Editor why has the Farris case been put in the back of the paper instead of front page news???? This is a serious matter and the paper just have must to say makes me think she must be friends with the owner are something can you explain this? Thanks

I don't think you should put anything in the paper, like court or foreclosing, I don't think it is anybody's business. Why!! don't you print something good. It is depressing to hear about people that try to have and can't. They don't want to hear about them selves.It is bad enough, If you want to put things in the paper put things like who are on drugs and burglary and who is in jail for what they did.

Honestly, what if it wuz your child are grandchild i bet you would want it on the front page. His lady wuz arrested for the death of that baby and the mt. echo said very very little about it. Nothing at all against Kasie Walker but she is on the front page every week this is suppose to be a news paper to inform people.

I can assure everyone that the publisher and editor are not biased and use good judgement at all times. I am sure they welcome all comments and will continue to do what they do in the best interest of our community.

Just not the newspaper is a joke but the whole town is. We don't have a law enforcement and you have to go out of town to get anything. Don't have good dr's here and the hospital I wouldn't take my dog there. The town wasted alot of money.

from the coments to my post i can see a lot of people are concerned about what happends in ironton. what we need to know is the out come of of the court cases. 13 year old raped by 4 boys . post ofice driver arrested for DWI, 2 counts of driving with a suspended license. this is in court next week.this has been delayed untill she get the right judge who is a good friend of her attorney. she will be back on the road. if yoy see a mail truck on the road after 7 pm watch OUT

Jeanie why would a small local newspaper print a story about a minor getting raped? Think about it even though they would have to leave out her name everyone would know who the article in the paper was reffering to. This girl is a minor. It is wrong to exploit her.
I personally belive the Mountain Echo could take the oppertunity to print more news worthy non-bias articles. I also think If a person wants to print a comment in the paper they should be required to put their name next to it. After all, printed News should have some integrity. Shouldn't it? It's not at all like the internet.

First of all, Kassie Walker is news just like the other kids who play sports in College or make the Dean's List from this area! Also, she is not on the front page every week. The Mt Echo just can't seem to make some of you happy. Firs, there's too much negativity in the paper or then you're upset because there's too much good news being reported. The Mt. Echo is such a good source of reporting for the AV School District along with other school districts. Whether it's on the 1st page or last, it's all news. Just read it and stay informed!

I want to know why the paper has pictures of the same people passing awards back and forth to each other? Is this so the history of Ironton will only reflect their version?

Pot bust are always in the paper...how about doing something about the sagging economy? How local businesses are suffering. How the local businesses have had vandelism and yet no one has been caught. Twelve or more shops in town were damaged by an individual(s). Funny how there are two cop shops within 2 maybe 3 blocks and they're too busy to keep an eye on the town businesses. Too many doughnuts? Do another damn story on that someone has to know something!

Janice, the reason why those types of stories are in the paper because it is easy to get a sheriffs report from the Iron County...they don't have to do any journalizism they just have to print the facts....

Peter Rabbbit, Gee journalism that's a big word for this small town. I understand that it isn't a huge community but it's the same ole same ole..this one giving that one an award , there are some that really think highly of themselves.
But I believe that they just haven't evolved enough yet.They are so afraid of change that someone else just might out shine them. Like living in Romper Room!
