Gangs are not a problem in only OC. We have similar problems in a very rural town just south of Northern Virginia. Nothing 'bad' has come out of these gangs yet.. Mostly graffiti.. a few fights.. Nothing that could compare to gangs in CA and NY and elsewhere in the country. I'm honestly surprised that gangs are just starting to become a hot topic in OC. I thought it would have happened ages ago. Not because of the police, but because of the populations in surrounding counties/cities. I hope something gets done about it before something bad starts to happen, before there are drivebys where innocent people on vacation and innocent natives are killed or injured. Its hard to keep that in check when it is a new problem, though. No one knows what to really do. Police should definitely be showing presence on the boardwalk during the 'peak' hours.

First of all there should not BE an under 21 Club! All it does is ask for trouble! These little darlings should be with their 'family'. I have been going to OC on family vacations since I was one. We participated in family activities. When I married we vacationed every summer for at least one week and many, many weekends in OC and our daughter never once found it necessary to go to an "Under 21 Club", and when she was over 21 there were never any 'Clubs' in OC that she would go to. There have never been any clubs that my husband and I would go to - they are all filled with low life, trashy people that we have no desire to associate with. Witness the couple that went to Seacrets and ended up murdered. We go to crab houses and the nice restaurants were liquor and beer is served but not any of the 'clubs'. I think it is a HUGE mistake that they are even in OC! They have ruined the family atmosphere. The TATOO and Piercing Palors only attact TRASH and drug users!
PLEASE bring back the families to OC or OC is doomed!
I will not even walk on the boardwalk with my grandchildren unless my husband is with me because of all the lowlifes and druggies and drunks walking and running that are pushing and carousing on the boardwalk - I worry for the safety of my grandchildren.
