BreakIns & Robberies in Asheboro

Last Sat. night someone tried to break my front door down. The noise woke me, so I turned my porch light on & they left. I didn't notice all the damage until Thurs. when I started to weatherize. They had used a crowbar and also tried to kick it down. The same Thursday, my son's house was robbed in broad daylight while he and my grandson were ut in the back yard. The cops said it was the 21st house in city limits so far this week. One came by yesterday patrolling and said it was up to 32 with no arrests. I live on Newell Street and always hated hand guns. But I am 47 now, smaller and weaker than in my youth. It forced me to get one to protect myself as a woman living alone. I never wanted one because I knew if invaded, I would use it, and the Bible says thou shalt not kill.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? If you know who may be hitting this area, please call Asheboro Police with any tips. It may save a life. The cop said as hard as he tried to break my door, he will probably return and to go ahead and shoot him through the door if I can get to him in time, He also had the sheriff issue me an emergency permit to wave the wait period since my life is in danger. But I don't want to kill anyone. If anybody has advice or knows what is happening around here, please tell me. I have no enemies that I know of and try to be good to people. The cops said they are keeping them hopping stealing elontronics & guns from homes.

If you have electronics and live in Asheboro, it is a good idea to list all of your serial numbers and give a copy to a family member to keep, just in case. We didn't think it would happen to us, but it is. My son lived in his house 10 years without any problems. I just moved to this area in January. I wanted to let any readers here know what is happening in case like me, you don't take the newspaper. Maybe one person will read this and be more prepared to protect themself and their family. We were blind sided, feeling secure, unaware that there had already been 20 robberies last week.

Just an update to say I am still alive. Lol. 3 days ago, a young blonde girl knocked on my doo. There was a black Nissan in my drive. Instead of opening the door, I just yelled through it "What do you want". She looked like a deer in headlights, looked out at the car and shrugged. She asked "Uh. Is your son in there?". I said no and she ran to the driver seat. When she backed out, I saw 3 other adults in the car.

Another caution: Be careful now. Do not open your door to strangers. They sent the small, harmless looking one to the door to try to get inside. Again in the middle of the day. Little did she know what was in my hand. These are troubled times we are living in.

Has anyone else living in Asheboro been having these kind of problems? Any suggestions besides lots of prayer or shooting someone?
