Kemp was a good teacher, not everybody knows the whole story. So don't go assuming things.
It's amazing how everyone gets this image of him that's not even true.

Dear Awful,
I believe you are one of the parents based on your posts, my question to you is how is playing the blame game helping the situation, you should be focusing on your child and their concerns, what does she need from her parental figure? How is her life affected? Stop worrying about getting attention, maybe this wouldn't have happened had you given you child the attention they deserved. If you aren't a parent apologize, but I'm still left pondering the concept of the role of the parents when this was happening if it went on for 2 years???
The parent's are not wanting attention from this and if you think that is what all of this is about then you have a serious problem. The parent's did what they needed to from the beginning. The parents are involved with their kids deeply and have always had their best interest at heart. I can't beleive someone would think a parent would want this type of attention. I KNOW I WOULDN'T. I would not wish this on a friend much less an enemy. We are talking about a kid that was taking advantage of by an adult. What if I was intrusted with your kid and got them to buy coke for me and God knows whatelse? I guess your views would be totally different wouldn't they? How about the attention now? Where were you as a parent? People need to realize that this man has admitted to all and needs some help for what pain he has caused the family and the child. The pain he may feel was brought on by his foolishness decision making. So, as a parent I feel for the family and friends.

I understand that the guys girlfriend and party friends teach for the Asheboro City Schools. As a parent I would call into question rather the Asst Superintendent responsible for hiring Kemp has requested that the others take drug tests to determine any possible usage on their behalf. You are the company you keep! These are paid employees who should be tested immediately and employment termintated should they be found to have consumed illegal drugs or refuse to be tested. Anything less resposible from this school system is unacceptable! Dr. Frost it looks like you really do have a drug problem in your school system. Forget drop out rates or numbers and how about running drug dogs through your schools on a regular basis and provide the parents and community with a full unedited report from the Asheboro Police Department. Cooperation would be greatly appreciated. Children's safety and well being should be your focus before 21st century learning!

To "Wake Up Comets" I love your statement. I've been told that Dr. Frost's office has been contacted and requested that the teachers be check into and have heard nothing of that being done. It needs to be done! I'm sure she'll keep that under raps as I'm sure that's why it took so long for the news channels to get this story. 6 days after it appeared in the local paper. 6 days? More parents need to call and bug her to get some action done and that hair samples need to be taken as cocaine & other drugs don't always show up after a few days. Hair samples would do better!

Exactly!!!! And why is a 17 year old sending naked pictures to ANYONE. This girl does not seem so innocent to me. Its not like he held her down and raped her. I'm not saying what he did was right but we are talking about a 17 year old and I remember being 17 and I knew that dating my teachers and sending naked pictures was wrong.

YOu too, Brittany. Get a grip. Your teacher was DOING and SELLING drugs to a minor. Apparently the girl has been sending him naked pictures of herself too. Like I told, Reina, I know you love your teacher, but the guy was leading a double life. I'm sure he was fine up in front of the class room, but his personal life was a mess apparently.
Good luck wtih your new teacher. I heard she sucked. Bahaha!
Dude, you dont know Mr. Kemp... He is a good man! I know that he didnt do any of the shit that people are accusing him of!! Btw, the new teacher does suck(:

Were you??? Are you aware he CONFESSED EVERYTHING to school officals??? And he didn't give her cocaine...he had her come to YOUR school where he gave her money to buy HIM cocaine, then had her and ANOTHER girl come to HIS apartment where he had bought them beer, drank with them, and snorted HIS cocaine in front of them. I know you,and you shouldn't really put your full name on here, and considering your age,you shouln't even be on here,I don't think your mom would be too happy with it. You too are a child, and I see your childs mentally clearly.....this is not a place where children should be going and reading this and commenting unless they are being supervised by their parents. I understand he was your coach,he was her coach also, from the time she was 15,and it started then. How many kids are going to open up to an adult if they DON'T have a ''friend'' relationship with them?? That is what he intended. Look around at some of your friends....if this child had not come forward, next year it could have been one of them..
Mr. Kemp was one of our teachers, so I think that we have a right to be reading the comments if we posted one. He taught us for a whole semester, so i think that we have a right to know what is going on with our old teacher.(I still think that he is innocent and that he doesnt deserve what he is getting from everyone. and even if he did do it, its none of anybody's business except his.)

If someone turns themselves in, doesn't it mean that they are admitting to the crime? Why would someone turn themselves in if they didn't commit the crime? I'm only asking because I really don't know the answer.

This blog needs to stop. Middle school students, high school students, parents, friends of both sides, co-workers, interested outsiders...this is all getting ridiculous.
I would hate to think my middle school child was taking part in this and being influenced one way or the other about a topic that should be talked about at home. This all seems very irresponsible. It is too serious for all involved to make it into what this blog has made it.

To those of you who are writing to help Mr. Kemp...you may want to stop. Your stupidity is doing him no good and your language is inappropriate. Just more evidence that you should not be on here. Go to bed, go to school, educate yourself, and talk to your parents. Do I seriously need to say this again?
And we wonder how these things happen? WOW!

He turned himself in because he had a warrant for his arrest. That doesn't show guilt it just means he was saved the embarresment of being arrested at school. He really had no choice but to turn himself in after the warrant was issued unless he wanted to run from the law. Sometimes police officers will call and let you know there is a warrant so you can turn yourself in. Im assuming that is what happen here.

Thank you and well stated.
I think most of us just wanted information because we were concerned. It turned into something ugly. We all should just walk away and concentrate on our own lives, families, etc.

A Prosecutor Must Authorize a Felony Charge
While police can sign complaints to begin prosecution of misdemeanors, they cannot with felonies. If an officer believes a felony has been committed he contacts the prosecuting authority (district attorney, state’s attorney or county attorney). It is the prosecutor, who, upon reviewing evidence and sometimes investigating, authorizes felony prosecution.

With that authorization, an arrest takes place and the accused is brought before a judge. The judge hears the charges and background of the defendant. Also the judge makes a determination if the accused can afford an attorney. If he cannot the judge will appoint counsel for the defendant in accord with his constitutional rights. If the arrest takes place outside the state where the crime took place the arrestee must go through process of extradition.

The judge then sets a bond. If the defendant can post bond he is released, if not he remains in custody while the case is pending.

Many seem to think that anyone can just go and get someone charged with whatever. There are laws and guidlines that govern this. The above are not my words, this is the process that was followed in this case. There was substantial evidence presented or he would not have been charged with three felonies.

It's actually not what happened here. He would not have been arrested because he had already been suspended the day before. There must be evidence presented, not hearsay,in order to issue felony charges. Misdemeanors are not issued the same way,but he only had one misdemanor and three felony. He also admitted his guilt to the school officals when they questioned him, thus his suspension from the school.

Appology accepted, my children are grown and out of the school system. The parents thought it was resolved back when it originally started. How were they to know it continued, even as much as she is in their business it was a well kept secret. If they had known they would have went further and reported it along with a little butt kicking by Dad I am sure. The girl is being reprimanded as she should be and now we expect the system to do the same to the ADULT.
