I am curious, how similar the stories sound to the other college age young men that go missing. Drinking at a bar, leaving the bar and then disappearing.

Are they even checking into the possibility of any connection.

I wonder if this guy might be responsible for the many missing young men whose bodies end up floating in rivers along the I-94 corridor?

What's the famous quote? "Calling rape sex is like hitting someone over the head with a frying pan and calling it cooking." Rape--no matter the gender or orientation of the people involved--is about power, not sex.
I hope and pray both young men are able to get help and support on what will surely be a long road.
And, just an aside--both men and women need to be careful about who they drink with and where. No one deserves anything like this, of course--no matter their behavior--but it's a lesson to all of us to be really careful and watch out for our friends when out partying.

The PP must be really hard up for intelligent journalists. One has to read the 4th paragraph and then go back and re-read the first three before it even makes sense.
By the way Mrs R, try reading the article instead of just the headline before you start commenting! Nowhere in this particular article does it state that anyone is gay.
These days many newspapers are outsourcing their artwork and writing. Yes, it's not just call centers anymore. Probably the guy in India or China doesn't have such a good grasp on English, but he works cheap! In addition: The Star Trib is now completly designed and laid-out overseas - they have no American artists now.

This story doesn't make any sense. Did an editor read it before it was posted? So one or two men were kidnapped? And which one was 21 and 23? At one point it sounds like the guy kidnapped himself...I'm confused.

Now that I think about it, I believe you are correct. Just call me "not wondering" anymore.

I wasn't referring to the victims. I was only referring to the paper mill worker, who is gay. Would this have even been a story if it didn't involve a gay man? Somehow I doubt it.
I think the fact that the man chained the victims up and repeatedly abused them would have made the news whether he was gay or not. Just a thought.

well, there is no proof that the guys that drowned were NOT sexually assaulted due to the fact that after a body has been in the water for some time all that physical evidence is gone...and the body swells so signs of sexual abuse will not be found or will be attributed to being pushed around in the river, also any injuries will be attributed to being in a raging river. so there is no proof that those young "drowning" victims were not sexually assaulted or injured in some way.

Maybe this story is being sensationalized because it involves KIDNAP, RAPE and TORTURE, you dope. This is 2008. Nobody cares about homosexuals so get over yourselves already.

Nice anti-gay scare tactics. Just because this involved gay people the paper has to sensationalize it. Is this 1908?
