You have to be the stupidest person on the planet. Any dog, any breed can harm a person. Wake up dumb ass. It's not the dog, it's the owner.

I agree. I have been attacked by a dog, received several stitches in my arm, and it WAS NOT a pitbull. I have also been biten by a Siberian Husky and barely prevented being bitten on seperate occassions by two different Chows. I have been in contact with numerous pitbulls and have never felt threatened. It's just another attempt to distance ourselves from personal responsibility.

I agree. It's the owner. The law should read, "If you feed (no one "owns" a dog any more)a pit bull, you should be locked up."

How's that, sweet lips?

When I worked in a dog day care facility, I put my hand in a pit bull's mouth everyday to give its medication. I was never once afraid the pit bull would bite me. But, there was this one labrador retriever that I was terribly afraid of. He'd act like he was going to attack me at any second.
It isn't the breed that should be punished. If the owner has an aggressive dog, it is his/her responsibility to correct the dog's behavior. If the dog's behavior is out of the owner's ability to correct or control, the dog should be given to someone with more experience. Or in the worse case, the dog should be put down.
But instead of banning bully breeds, there should be a strict law against owning a dog and not having it spayed or neutered. And just be a responsible dog owner.

But it was a dog that attacked the child she was only three and in her yard playing. The dog had came from across the road and into her yard about 600 feet away.

all dogs are dangerous if allowed. i used to be a garbage man in gardendale and have had all types of dogs run up on me when i first started i had small dogs actually bite at my ankles and succeed on occasion. i have witnessed customers in gardendale open their doors and let the dog out when the truck is outside their house. i started carrying a bat on the back of the truck. its not the dogs it the people because when i pulled my bat out on dogs that people basically sicked on me they want the call the city and the garbage company. what gardendale needs is a leash law, not a ban on dogs.

First I agree, not the breed but its breeding, some are bred to fight. I am more afaid of the owners of most of these dogs. What should be against the law is letting teenage boys walk around with this breed on a tow chain showing off their bad a$$ dog. I have groomed dogs for over 20 years, the only dog that ever bit me was a 3 lb, Yorkie and that was my fault, not his. I won`t say all dogs make great pets, but people remember what each breed was bred for...hunting, herding guard dog or another. Its bred into them and they can`t help it if they don`t fit into a life they can`t deal with. And remember you are dealing with an animal, even if you think it can act and think like a human... your wrong, it thinks like an animal because it is one!!!!!

I live in Montgomery,Al and I own Booth Kennels.I think all responsible pit bull owners should try to make all the city council meetings and voice their opinion. We need to get involve before our breed becomes extinct.

All dogs will bite but the problem with Pits is that some unknown factor triggers even the best mannered and nicest dogs to attack and they don't give up. Pits and any dogs deemed "vicious" should have a solid bottom pen that cannot be dug out of with a cover that cannot be climbed out of. Anytime they are out of the pen they should be on a leash and wear a muzzle. The owner should have to provide a million dollar limit liability policy to cover damages his potentially dangerous dog does. Apartment owners, trailer park owners, rental house owners should be included in the liability if they allow such animals to be kept on their premises. When the doctors, plastic surgeons and hospital bill run up in the six digits and you are not insured, you could lose your property and toys in a judgement.
