I know someone who took their puppy there. He was there for a total of 13 days. Before he went there, they took him to the vet, and he was in picture perfect health, when they went to visit him, they could tell immediately that something was wrong. He had lost a lot of weight, you could see his ribs and his hip bones. When they took him to the vet, she was shocked at how much damage was done to him in the 13 days he was there. He was very emaciated, dehydrated, and looked as though he had not eaten a good meal in days. The vet did multiple tests on him and found that there was no other reason for the puppy to look this way other than him being neglected and mistreated. It cost them over $300 for all of the fluids and medication he needed in order to get better. He could not hold any food in and had bad diarrhea for days. After 3 days he gained a whole pound, which only proves that there was nothing wrong with him when he was there. Mr. Gibson tried to tell these people that he was just stressed, but he had eaten 3 times a day. The vet said this was impossible, and he should have called when the puppy started showing signs that he was not doing well.

Mr. Gibson seems to only be in this business for money. He obviously does not care about these animals he is "training". Who knows how bad the puppy would have gotten if they had not gone to visit him.

I also find it shocking that there is not one bad thing online about this business. It seems as if no one else wants to say anything against him. I do not mind because everything I have said is pure fact.

Luckily, now the puppy is doing well, he is not quite up to the appropriate weight, but he is doing a lot better.

Please, PLEASE, do not take your dog to this man, your story may not end as well...

I suspect that you need to talk with a few other vets in the area. Ralph has worked with many of them during his 26 years of training dogs in the Birmingham area. I doubt that you will find any who have worked with Ralph or cared for the dogs that he has trained who would find that your post has any merit. He has an impeccable reputation among dog owners and veterinarians in the area, and deservedly so. Ralph has trained my dog and the dogs of three of my family members and I can say, without reservation, that what you allege would never happen to a dog being trained by Ralph Gibson.

I'm very sorry for your friend and her dog, but I've had a very different experience with Ralph and his team. Ralph trained a dog that we rescued over three years ago. We had tried every training method possible, and there were some other trainers in town (who shall remain nameless) that could do nothing to help and actually made our dog's behavior worse. I can honestly say that without Ralph's help we would have had to take him to the Humane Society. Now we have a great companion that we love and we can only thank Ralph and his team for all their help in training him and us. From what we can tell our dog was never mistreated, he has stayed there for almost a month and nothing like what you described happened. I do know that some of the police departments around town use him for their K-9 dogs and I can't imagine that they would let those dogs be neglected or underfed. I hope your comment doesn't prevent someone with a problem dog that they are about to give up on from going to Ralph before doing anything drastic.

The experience I have had with Ralph Gibson and my dog, and my friends/ their dogs, has been strictly positive. I have used Ralph for my dog's training and boarding for over 4 years and have been extremely happy and I am confident that Ralph would NEVER do anything like that! Ralph would miss a meal himself before he would underfeed an animal! He is a kind, competent professional with only the owner and animal as a focus- not money! The price that I paid was more than fair for the time Ralph has put into my dog and me, and has also been the best investment I have ever made! My dog's attitude towards Ralph says it all- since day 1 my dog was more relaxed and happy than he was with me! My pup loves his Uncle Ralph! I will continue to recommend Ralph and his business to anyone that I can because he has the most humane, positive, balanced training program available. He has been a blessing in our lives! If not for Ralph many dogs would be euthanized for reasons that Ralph can rehabilitate. He is a canine blessing! As Ralph would say, "God's dog first, my dog second."

We LOVE Ralph ! He has trained 2 of our dogs and he has worked wonders with them. Both of our dogs looked great after being with him, one was there for 2 weeks, while the other was there 2 months! Ralph is very passionate about his work and he will not harm a dog in any way! We recommend him to everyone we have talked to. As the others have said, I hope no one put any merit into the negative post here. If something was wrong with that dog, it was by no fault of Ralphs, dogs do get sick - just like people can.

Ralph has trained three of my Great Danes, and i can honestly say that i would never own another dog without a stay with Ralph being part of the plan. All three dogs are a blessing now, and they LOVE Ralph. Ralph has earned my total trust with my dogs, and i cannot imagine for a minute that he would give anyones dog less than the 110% that he gave me and mine. I would reccomend Ralph any time to anyone.

Ralph gives his time and energy to helping local rescue dogs. Saying "he's in it for the money" is just silly. Of course he has to make a living, but Ralph gives back big time! I have studied everything I could find that Caesar Milan has written or recorded, but I've learned more from Ralph in 2 lessons than from everything Caesar produced. In the first lesson, I watched him handle a rescue dog with some serious issues. He had the dog calm and obedient within 10 minutes. The second lesson was with my own dog. I saw a 60% improvement with my dog after the first lesson. We will be taking his 6 week course soon, and I can't wait.

I had the same experience with my dog at Ralph's "training " facility. A wonderful happy healthy young dog came home to me a frightened scrawny shadow of his former self. It took me MONTHES to undo the damage done to him in just 2 short weeks. Note this happened several years ago but just recently it came to my attention that a store near me was recommending Ralph's Training services. They had no actual knowledge of what he does or how he does it. They had not heard any actual testimonies to his work either. They simply said it was the only trainer they had heard of. I can stress enough how horrible our experience was with this service. I would never in my life let him even lay eyes on another dog of mine. If you had experience other wise good for you but I felt it absolutely necessary to share my experience.

My nine month old pitbull and i have been working with Ralph for about five months now and it has been a great experience. Ralph's training methods are extremely effective and he is passionate about his work. I would highly recommend Ralph Gibson to anyone interested in getting his or her dog trained.

I actually came onto this site because I am about to take my German Shepherd to Ralph for training and have to say that I had a totally positive experience with him when he worked with my last dog (a Doberman) more than 14 years ago: I would highly recommend Ralph!

Ralph knows what he is doing. We have had a wonderful experience with our 6.5 month German Shepherd. We found him through others in our community who have also had a wonderful experience. The negative reviews on here are incredible.
