I have to disagree. I don't normally post comments, but I had to when I saw the previous negative comment. Dr. Tony Ballagas is in with Dr. James Milton, who is one of the best specialists in the nation. Dr. Ballagas has done surgery on three of my beloved pets, and all have had a wonderful recovery. They both have the DACVM designation. If you research the DACVM, you will understand the dedication it takes to reach this specialty status. Dr. Milton is a retired professor from Auburn University's Veterinarian School. Dr. Ballagas and Dr. Milton are both very caring and amazingly intelligent specialists.

Definitely WRONG!!! Dr. B is the reason my dog is still alive 2 years after he did an open chest cancerous rib dissection. This was a very serious and risky surgery on a large dog (90 lb labrador) that ended with the absolute best results possible...Clean margins on tumor, surgery site healed great, wonderful pain management, etc. I have used several different services at both University of Georgia and Auburn University veterinary schools and I can tell you that the reason veterinaries send patients to Dr. B is because he is the best.

It is very interesting...All positive comments were generated as a result of my BAD and deadly experience with this referral hospital and surgeon! Makes one wonder why their positive comments didn't appear earlier than my post. Staff, vets? Who knows...

I definitely am not associated with Dr. Ballagas other than he is my companions surgeon. He operated on my Min Pins leg and did a wonderful job. I am grateful to him for his wonderful followup and aftercare. I would take any beloved pet to him!

Dr. Ballagas is a very experienced surgeon. He also operated on my large dog - 108lbs lab. He was HIGHLY recommended by Auburn University after several vet surgs declined to perform the procedure on our dog. He removed a large malignant tumor and in the process completely "rebuilt" his colon and abdominal structure. It was a very risky surgery that went better than expected. I would recommend him without reservation.

I think Dr. Ballagas is a wonderful veterinarian. He operated on my puppy after my regular veterinarian referred us to him and said he would be our best bet to fix his heart. Our puppy got the surgery and left in 3 days and is a happy, wagging and very healthy dog. He explained the risks and was very thorough when we first got there and treated us like we were his only appointment. He didnt rush and he promised he would do everything he could and did! We are very grateful for his time and effort because our dog is like our child.

Hmmm, just maybe Dec 94 was a competitor (given her accusations)? Dr. B did alright by me and my hopeless case. He gave him a better life!

Dr. Ballagas is an exceptional surgeon. Our dog, Alli, had a rectal mass and would not have lived without major abdominal surgery. Dr. Ballagas was very upfront and honest with us about what the surgery would be like, recovery time, and complications that could happen while in surgery. He was also upfront with the cost of the surgery even though that wasn't much of a concern to me for my baby to be fixed. The mass came back cancerous and we are going to start chemo tomorrow. He got most if not all of the tumor but we want to make sure just in case there was a microscopic cell left behind. Alli's surgery was on August 2nd and she has healed very well since then. She was in the hospital for 5 days after surgery and his staff made me feel very welcome when I wanted to visit her and were always helpful even if it was 2AM and I was just calling to check on her. Dr. B kept us updated daily on Alli's condition and called to check on her once she was home with us. I highly recommend Dr. B and feel like I made the very best decision choosing him to be Alli's surgeon. He saved my dog's life and I will be forever grateful to him.
