This is in response to the wast water system. Unfortunatley, the PA Department of Environmental Protection had mandated that wast water facilities and water treatment plants be updated, all over the state not just Birdsboro. Birdsboro was one of the first in PA to experience this need to update/upgrade the waste water facility because of the environmental impacts and, the DEP dictated to the Municipal Water Authority what needed to be done and put a stringent timeline on that project. The problem we, the Borough, have is an 8,000,000, yes that's millions, loan that covers a little over 2,000 residents hooked into the system. There is Grant money available however, there's a request for 800,000,000 million dollars with only 400,000,000 to go around. This November there's going to be a referrundum to vote yes to the state of PA issuing bonds to help cover some of these costs and issue more funding.
Once we have the BRAWA site up, we will make sure that we have all the information and who to contact.

Just to let people know, the "collection agency" that is supposed to work with you does not. Well you need to pay your bill in full is working with you than I guess they do. I had to go and pay my bill, it was $313 for 4 people, the bank only takes check or money order, the borough does not seem to care anymore. The only person that did seem to care and accepted whatever you could pay, was fired, because they weren't beating down doors. The water treatment plant was not needed, they just want to raise the price on something, once this is all done our taxes will go up again, so be warned.

This is certainly a water under the bridge question, but what if Birdsboro had REFUSED to update sewer facilty or now update water facility? What could DER do? Take over plants? Shut down Water service for entire town? OH NO! PERHAPS FINE US!!Clog our toilets? Frown and tap their feet?
