Come on now! At one of the September meetings, someone on council asked when the search committee would begin it work on finding a new borough manager. Just a few days ago, council appointed Mr. Durso the borough manager (vs. interim borough manager). He also got a substantial increase. Doesn't anyone find it interesting that Mr. Durso, who used to relish his elected position, resigned and council, coincidentally, appointed him as interim manager? Sounds as if the entire situation was engineered and illegally decided outside of a public meeting which is a violation of sunshine laws. Perphaps the recurrence of these types of situations is why Ms. Willman resigned in the first place? I don't think anyone is fooled by her resignation; maybe they are simply afraid to speak up for fear of retribution? We need to seriously consider replacing all of the elected officials with folks who really care about the borough's issues and are not concerned with retaining power in order to stroke their egos?

It's a step in the right direction. Unfortunately after all the agressive attention to the water situation and even after a $5MM grant, the water bills in Birdsboro have not gone down a dime. This crime for years of authority management is sickening. And it is ruining property values as well as the reputation of the Borough itself. Here is a prime case of government mismanagement and stupidity for over a 20 year period that we must now suffer for. And you want government to run and control health care? Are you nuts. Unless this is repealed, we will be suffering the horrible consequences for perhaps generations to come just like we are suffering with the water bills in Birdsboro now for government mismanagement for many years. They should have privatized water and sewer in Birdsboro 30 years ago and we'd not be in this mess. It's a shame. I do wish Durso all the best. He's a good guy.

The 5M was for the sewer plant=sewer bill. The rates aren't down no one ever guaranteed that they would. Everything is decided outside of a council meeting by a select few.

Lester, are you capable of constructing a comment that conveys thought and/or orginality? At least you managed to find a synonym for the word "nitwits"... congrats!

I guess no one else sees that Durso is part of the problem. The only reason he was appointed borough manager is so that a few still on council (Lusky, Templin, Kanuck and McKinney) can get their way. By the way, McKinney happens to be Durso's sister which is convenient (perhaps even a conflict of interest) for everyone involved. Has anyone even asked what Durso's qualifications for borough manager are? It's really a shame that more resident taxpayers don't go to council meetings and become involved in their local government. If they did, they would see what's really going on and who is running the borough. As always, it's council and and Birdsboro is deatined to continue it's downward spiral. Did anyone happen to see Dick Happle's recent letter to the editor about the manager's search committee? Very thought provoking, indeed!
