VOLUNTEER FOR GIRL SCOUTS!
As the school year approaches, Girl Scouts is seeking adult volunteers. A variety of skills and talents are required to ensure that Girl Scouts have a community presence. Troop volunteers are needed to provide the program, and to serve on the Hiawatha West Service Area, serving girls Birchwood and surrounding communities.
The volunteer opportunities are endless! Your talents and skills can provide service to girls either directly as a Troop Leader or event planner, or indirectly through administrative support to the Service Area. Some positions available include:
Troop Leaders and Co-Leaders provide direct support and program for girls. There are girls of all ages, hoping that someone like you will step up and volunteer to be a Leader!
A Service Area Manager is needed to oversee Girl Scouts locally, and that girls and volunteers are receiving all necessary services.
A Public Relations (P.R.) Representative is needed to serve as a correspondent between local media and local Girl Scouts.
A Product Program Manager is needed to coordinate the Fall Product Program, and/or the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program this winter.
Girl Scout volunteers can also provide short term assistance with local events, and outreach programs.
Volunteers are the backbone of Girl Scouts, the men and women who make the Girl Scout experience happen. Having a daughter in Girl Scouts is not a prerequisite to volunteer -- only the desire to make a positive and lasting difference in a girl’s life. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, and register as an adult Girl Scout.
A $12 registration fee provides a one-year membership to the national organization, Girl Scouts of the USA, and provides insurance coverage for the member while participating in any Girl Scout activity. Financial assistance is also available, to ensure accessibility to the world’s best leadership development experience for every girl and adult.
For more information about how you can volunteer, contact Jenelle Wohlk at the Girl Scout Service Center, 888-747-6945, ext. 5517.
In partnership with over 6,000 adult volunteers, GSNWGL serves nearly 20,000 girls in
58 counties throughout northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, with opportunities for girls to discover their strengths, connect with others and take action to improve their communities. Girl Scouts is the world’s preeminent leadership development organization for girls, building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. To join, volunteer, reconnect or donate to Girl Scouts, call 888-747-6945 or visit www.gsnwgl.org .
