Abdelazim Campaign Crashes

The vague, issueless campaign has only the anti-tracking contingent left after Thursday's rejection by third party voters. Abdelazim only has the extreme left. The democrats have given the County Executive seat away by nominating a kook.

"The victory has already happened, and that is that we returned the choice to the thousands of Independence Party members through the democratic process," -Tarik Abdelazim

He is not the first one to ever participate in an opportunity to ballot primary.
Tarik has a far-fetched idea of what actual accomplishment is.
He thinks where ever he happens to be is the center of creation.

We're still waiting for Preston's "accomplishments".
Preston? Preston?? Bueller...
#5 Sep 15, 2012
You mean aside for her almost 20 years of public service, winning numerous elections for town council, town supervisors, and the trouncing she gave Pat Brennan to be elected County Executive last year???? Or you you looking to hear about the millions of dollar she has already saved county tax payers?
The list is long. Where should we begin?

Let's start here.....
An open, honest dialogue is something Ms. Preston and her campaign team apparently don't want. They have yet to respond to any of Tarik's invitations, and recently declined to participate in a debate hosted by one of our area's most respected civic organizations, an election year tradition.
Actually, we understand why Ms. Preston would prefer to avoid these discussions, as she has a troubling pattern of taking credit for the hard work of others. This is not just campaign gimmickry on her part, but bold-face misrepresentations of the facts.
Rather than engage in a series of tit-for-tat exchanges in the media, Tarik wants to present Broome County voters with the facts and let them come to their own conclusions about Preston's "accomplishments."
Tarik also makes this commitment: If the Preston camp wants to offer "clarification" on any of these facts, he promises to post their unedited responses on this page for the voters to read and review.
CRACKING DOWN ON WELFARE FRAUD AND SAVING MONEY?
Preston has made this a signature accomplishment of her first year, saying "this might have been done in the past, but I've made this a priority." According to the facts, it might have been more accurate for her to say, "This might have been done in the past, but I've made it a priority to promote it repeatedly and shamelessly."
FACT: The Case Integrity Unit of DSS has been busting fraud and saving money for more than ten years under the last four prior County Executives (Grippen, Kraham, Fiala, and Brennan). Here are just a few of the more recent releases showing how this award-winning unit has been hard at work for years protecting the program's integrity and saving tax dollars.
Broome County Media Release, March 2010: "Broome County Security's Case Integrity Unit Nabs 23 Individuals for Fraud"
Broome County Media Release, November 2009: "Broome County Security Completes Welfare Fraud Sweep"
Broome County Media Release, August 2009: "Welfare Fraud Sweep Garners $61,663.45"
Broome County Media Release, May 2009: "Broome County Security Completes Welfare Fraud Sweep"
Broome County Media Release, February 2009: "Sweep Uncovers $161,612 in Welfare Fraud"
LANDED A GRANT AND LAUNCHED A NEW ONLINE JOBS TRAINING PROGRAM?
Preston has touted this as one of her major accomplishments, and as evidence that she has kept her campaign commitment to focus on job creation.
FACT: There was no grant, and the program is not new. The program has been offered since at least 2008 by the Broome-Tioga Workforce Center, through a partnership with NY Wired for Education. There was an expansion of courses offered this year, but that was the result of the hard work of the County workforce staff and their longstanding successful partnership with NY Wired for Education—not Ms. Preston.
Here is a 2008 news release, on Broome County's website, promoting an earlier version of the same online skills training program: "On-line Learning Available to Broome and Tioga Businesses."
In fact, these online training programs were rolled out to 26 workforce centers across NYS in 2008-2009 because of the very successful pilot program launched right here in Broome in 2008! You can read this 2009 report by NY Wired for Education to better understand the longstanding relationship between NY Wired for Education and Broome County—and how the hard work of the workforce center staff over the years has provided many in our area with new training opportunities and job opportunities.

ANNOUNCED NEW LANDFILL CONTRACT THAT WILL SAVE MONEY?
In an August press release, Preston and her team announced a new landfill contract with Waste Management that will save $400,000. In the release, Republican Legislator Matt Pasquale states, "These new initiatives will save us money and improve our outstanding recycling services even more. This is another example of positive changes that we've made this year and the Legislature is proud to partner with County Executive Preston and her administration on this project."
FACT: Mr. Pasquale and Ms. Preston are being dishonest with the public. The contract was actually approved in July 2011, more than five months before Preston even took office. Here is a copy of the July 11, 2011 meeting minutes of the Broome County Board of Acquisition and Contract. Please see item #17, a ten-year contract (starting 8/2/12) with Waste Management, with the exact same "cost-saving" terms as outlined in Preston's release.
CREATED NEW WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY?
FACT: The whistleblower policy was created in 2005 via executive order by then County Executive Barb Fiala.
LAUNCHED NEW AFFORDABLE DENTAL PROGRAM FOR BROOME COUNTY RESIDENTS?
FACT: The program has been open to all New York State residents for the last couple years. In fact, the County Health Department promoted this program in two media releases in 2011: in March under then County Executive Barb Fiala; and again in August under then County Executive Pat Brennan.
In fact, we spoke with a rep at the Health Economics Group (HEG), who administers the Dental Network Card Program. The HEG rep confirmed that Broome County residents were enrolled in the program as of February 2012—more than five months before Ms. Preston "launched" this "new" program.
INTRODUCED NEW RETIREMENT INCENTIVE TO SAVE TAX DOLLARS?
In a June 2012 release, Preston announced she introduced this retirement incentive as another example of her commitment to control costs.
FACT: The retirement incentive was indeed a very clever approach to controlling costs, however, it was designed and introduced by former County Executive Pat Brennan. This smart solution is what helped Brennan close a major budget gap last year. Here is the press release showing Brennan's lead role in this important cost-cutting solution: May 2011, "Brennan Introduces Retirement Incentive".

Why won't Preston debate and let the public determine if she is worthy or just a lot of bull.
#10 Sep 15, 2012
She is afraid. Can you blame her?
#12 Sep 15, 2012
Anyone with even a slight association with Mayor Ryan will lose big time in November. We can't vote him out (not like we voted him IN last time) so we will take it out on his party.
Tarik's campaign slogan should really be "Remember what happened with the Binghamton Regency? Oh god..I HOPE not!"

What fantasyland universe do you live in? Is it just that the real world was so unkind to you (no friends, no woman, no job, etc.) that you had to leave it and exist in your delusional pretend world?
#14 Sep 16, 2012
And you prove her supporters are scared as well.
#15 Sep 16, 2012
Abdelazim is either naive or crazy. He wants to attack, why? Because he does not understand the nuts and bolts of local government.
Abdelazim's job from the city was funded by federal transfer payments.
He has a wide array of fantasy ideas that take him away of the hard day to day grind of managing government.
He could not cut medical school. Worked at as a desk clerk. Became a protestor against the war and time-Warner Cable. Then was rewarded with a patronage job with Mayor Ryan.
Oh, and he is against gas drilling.
A real sparse resume.
#17 Sep 16, 2012
Here is Abdelazim's resume in his own words:
“Hard to explain why I feel able to contribute…., I've spent much of the last five years refusing anything that might be construed as a career move,” Submitted on November 15th, 2004 by Tarik Abdelazim
This still speaks for itself.
Abdelazim in his owns...
Five years of refusing to do anything that might be construed as a career move!!!!
FIVE YEARS of doing NOTHING....
What a waste of space that Abdelazim.
#18 Sep 16, 2012
"Abdelazim attended SUNY Upstate Medical University for a year and a half and earned his master's degree in 2003 from the John Draper Interdisciplinary Master's Program of Humanities and Social Thought at New York University."
So your claim of "five years doing nothing" is false - based on facts, reality and the OP i.e. the person I quoted above...
I do wish to inquire... were you being purposely deceptive i.e. lying... or are / were simply uninformed ?

Bottom line is that a debate would settle everything. PRESTON DEBATE! Or are you too stupid and afraid that people will see the real you?
