In his Guest Viewpoint,Hollywood goes after gas drillers published in the Press & Sun-Bulletin,( Jan 24, 2013), Ed Nizalowski, a Newark Valley resident and member of Residents Against Fracking Tioga (RAFT) admits he was, excited about Matt Damons anti-gas drilling film Promised Land. Mr. Nizalowski goes so far as to call fracking, one of the top environmental and social issues of this century!
Really, Mr. Nizalowski???? Top environmental issues of the century?????
Maybe in his mind. But in the real world a University of Texas at Austin poll asked 2400 people about hydraulic fracturing. Sixty-three percent of those polled had either never heard of it (35%) or were unfamiliar with it (28%). That doesnt bode well for being the top social issue of the century does it!
I wonder, does he realize the issue of hydrofracking has already been resolved in about 20 states in the US? Only New York State lags behind in reaping the economic benefits.
On another note, Im also curious if Mr. Nizalowski is aware of who paid to produce the film? Turns out the movie was financed by Image Nation, a film company completely owned and operated by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a major oil exporter in the Middle East. Is it any surprise the United Arab Emirates would prefer not to see the United States increasing its energy self-sufficiency, improving its national energy security and decreasing its dependence on foreign oil?
It seems Mr. Nizalowski is an unwitting a pawn to foreign oil much as was Matt Damon.
By the way, the film has also been a box office dud. After only four weeks it has dropped off the top 25 films showing and is playing in only about 130 theaters nation-wide. By comparison The Hobbit, for instance, is playing in over 2300.

Then there was Yoko, sean and suzy visiting PA. to view the disasters of fracking site's, from looking at all the pic's did anybody see them next to a disaster due to fracking? I think....sarandon missed the bus and is still in Montrose looking for her toyboy.
Everybody should watch Fracknation, i saw gasland and promised land.

Apparently Nizalowski lost his family farm to a guy from PA who made money leasing his land to a gas company. This same guy from PA is buying more land in NY. So Nizalowski has an ax to grind.
Good for the entrepreneur from PA. Perhaps if we get enough of those type of people in NYS these anti-fracking Luddites will go some place else and the rest of us can start to recover economically as well.

Thirty-one states are frackig while NYS falls further and further behind.
