Do you trust your mailman?

I've lived in Old Town, Bangor, and Augusta and there were times I swear that my mail man or woman didn't deliver to my end of the block on certain days, or stuff would go missing that at first I thought my neighbor took, or stuff comes really late that I thought was just slow mail processing. After a while I started to suspect certain Mail Carriers depending on where I lived. Do you trust your local Mailman or Malewoman? I've even had friends mail me stuff and timed it when it got here and sometimes it was either very late or never showed up at all. I even had a web cam set up and it showed that no one got into my mail box but there were like 4 to 7 days in a row that I got nothing. Well maybe the stupid free local news paper on Thursday or Fridays that very few people read or local junk mail. But a letter I mailed a couple days before didn't show up for up to a week or not at all. So if nobody was getting into my my mail box then what is happening? Another clue is that when ever I had a Mail Box at the Post Office my mail was always 98% to 100% on time and nothing missing. So I sort of assume that the problem isn't the mail sorting/processing. Over the last 20 years off and on of watching my local mail man or woman I really suspect that they are up to something. I'm thinking about getting a box again to not only test my theory more but just to be safe as well. Though box prices are higher than ever. Sorry for the long rant but WHAT do YOU all think? It's not like I just jumped at this conclusion ASAP but rather it has been a growing concern for years and years. Currently I am back in Bangor and have lived at 2 different locations and this same crap has started again.

Where I'm at - we've had the same mailman for years and we know his name and he knows the names of the people on his delivery route...

About the only time there is an "issue" is when he is on vacation or sick and we have an alt doing deliveries... and then it's just that the deliveries seem to take a bit longer e.g. delayed getting something by a day or mail going into a neighbor's box by accident... but I've always attributed that to the person not being familiar area...

Reminds me of that movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase living at the end of a mail route, by the time of delivery to is house the mail man would be drunk and cause all kind's of problems.

Well...the mail is sometimes delivered late and I occasionally get a letter addressed to my neighbor and vice versa in my mailbox, but I have no reason to believe that my mail is being opened by the USPS, so I would say I trust them. Unlike my email and the NSA.

Our mailman is lazy. If we are getting a package that requires he come up to our door/a signature he will not bother. He'll just stick one of those pink slips in our mailbox saying he attempted delivery and we have to get the package at the post office. There are days when we will track a package and it'll say it's out for delivery and the pink slip will not show up in our mailbox for days.

Wel I do more or less trust my mailma; his integrity, not his competence, that is. I do have a problem with mailmen taking taxpayers' money without working for it. Beyond the usual downtime there's this: A USPS truck is regularly parked in the westernmost end of the MacArthur Park complex , down by the baseball field. Like up to an hour, almost daily. I'm pretty sure there are no mailboxes nor houses in that parking lot, though there is a lot of gravel and a dumpster. Nothing like a little nap after a hard few hours of work, guys and gals. It's a tough job. Lord knows, and the funds from the next stamp rate increase , coming in Jan., couldn't be better spent than on these dedicated public servants.

PS. I sure hope none of those dogwalkers or soccer players are disturbibg your sleep...

yes, love our mail carriers. they have been great. though they typically deliver everything by jeep, they do deliver to the door when items are too big to fit in the box of if they seem fragile.

I absolutely think Van Halen rocks! No Michael Anthony, No problem. Eddies son Wolfgang has been freaking awesome! A band that has stood the test of time for sure! Liked both the Dave and Sammy years!
