Save-a-Lot Opening ignored. WHY?????

For at least five years the local Greater Binghamton news media has been reporting on the POSSIBILITY of a Save-a-Lot grocery store opening in Binghamton. However, when that store actually DOES open in Johnson City the news is completely ignored by The Press & Sun-Bulletin, WBNG, NewsChannel34, FOX40 and YNN, to name but a few…A search of the web and of these local web sites does not turn up an entry for Save-a-Lot since February 22,2012.

Why is that?

You’d think with our local economy in the toilet a new store opening would be heralded and they are. But not this one.

Is it because our biased local, left-wing rag of a newspaper wants to cover up another massive failure and more lies by Mayor Matthew T. Ryan, Citizen Action city councilwoman Lea Webb and former City Planner Tarik Abdelazim?

For years these left-wing, socialists have lied about a grocery store poised to open on Binghamton’s North Side. Why, Lea Webb even got an award for Oprah for this supposed store opening which never happened. Will Lea Webb give her award back and admit she lied to people?

Furthermore, at least $200,000 of taxpayer funds were spent on this non-existent store in Binghamton. Where did the money go?

Residents of Broome County deserve to hear about this situation. Johnson city residents deserve to hear the store is open on their Main Street. Binghamton residents deserve to hear how their tax dollars were wasted and how they were lied to by Ryan, Webb and Abdelazim.

Broome County voters deserve to hear Tarik Abdelazim cannot be believed and should never be elected to public office.

Everybody needs to realize how biased our local news media is.

Most people realize that BCVoice, a website ran by a purple nosed, semi-literate dope, is biased.

Non-story??????????

You know what was a non-story????

Six years of Ryan's broken promises and Lea Webb's lies about a fictional store that was SUPPOSED to open were a non-stories that got repeated every six months especially at election times.
Now the store actuallly opens up somewhere else and it is NON-STORY!!!!!!

No, it is obvious biased news non-coverage.

And for those entire six years, you never lived in Binghamton Ed. Why are you obsessed with people who are more successful than you are?

You are a an impotent failure Arzouian. Accept that fact and move on.

I thought the mantra was that it was all Webb's doing... at least that was the mantra when it was convenient...

Or are you implying conspiracies... against the people of NY... and perhaps against you personally...

LOL !!!

Is your life so boring that you must start exact same threads on two different message boards? Ooooh, I need to discuss savalot both here & on the bcvoice because my only life is posting on message boards. Jeesh.

Do us a favor, and discuss your topic in ONE place - that way there's less for us to ignore.

That's a very good question because I keep hearing various people spouting numbers about what they believe was spent... but no hard evidence where / when that money was spent...

So if you have the information... feel free to provide it.

All we knows is that a NYS Senator from downstate contributed $150,000 or so and the city spent another $150,000 or so. Ostensibly that was for site preparation. Site preparation for a non-existent site.

So what you are saying is that you don't believe giving promises of tax breaks to businesses... either directly or through trying to lure them by spending tax payer money to "prepare" sites for them... is a BAD thing...

Just one question though... why do so many politicians - from both major parties - support such schemes... and where is your angst against any / every politician that from the area that has put forth such a proposal and / or gotten one passed over the years ?

Deep down Ed knows the truth. He worked for Naima who received a lot of this type of welfare.

It sounds like there was an agreement in principle that Save-A-Lot. I'm guessing the site needs extensive environmental remediation since the Binghamton Plaza is listed in the Brownfield Cleanup Program as a Class A site

Have to head out in a minute so no time to read the links you provided right now...

Just curious though - any idea if the folks trying to get the store into the area knew of the issues before hand... or if it was something that was discovered after the fact ?

They probably had an idea there was a problem, but not how expensive it would be to remediate.

None of that explains why the local news media, The Press & Sun-Bulletin and Calvin Stovall in particular, have chosen to ignore the opening a brand new grocery store on Main Street in Johnson city. You can be sure if this store opened on Main Street in Binghamton it would be front page news.

The fact that it opened in Johnson City makes Matt Ryan, Lea Webb and Tarik Abdelazim look like idiots and liars once again

Your argument is that if something had happened - that actually didn't happen - you are claiming 100% certainty as to what would have occurred as a result...

Which leaves me with one question...

Exactly when did you discover your ability to predict the future, what is occurring on alternate timelines, or whatever it is you're trying to say there ?!

Again...

I could have sworn your mantra for more than a year on this one was Lea Webb... Lea Webb this... Lea Webb that... yet suddenly its now Ryan and Abdelazim too...

Which imho seems even you aren't certain as to who is responsible in the situation you're complaining about... and instead have to resort to throwing anything and everything at the wall in the hopes that something sticks... which doesn't make for a very logical or convincing on your part...

Malcolm Smith did NOT contribute anything, he handed over TAXPAYER money towards site prep/construction of the non-existant store to a "Sista", who didn't follow through.
Any of you ridiculous Douchebags who keep arguing about this waste of taxpayer money should just really STFU.
You clearly are NOT taxpayer's, and are only hijacking these threads because you are unable to stop attacking Ed.

After receiving the funds from Malcolm Smith Lea Webb then, one week before her last election, sent $4000 of her campaign money to Brooklyn that nromally would have ben spent in her district.

Do Lea Webb's local supporters and contributors approve of her sending $4000 of THEIR money to Brooklyn?

Why was that money sent?

What did it buy?

Actually if you go back and read my comments here and elsewhere there were only a few points I raised:

1) We heard Webb, Webb, Webb for almost a year and now we are seeing duplicate posts except for Abdelazim's name ( and Ryan and Stovall )suddenly being tacked on... and I am asking why / pointing out the issues with the sudden change of story line...

2) It was mentioned that it looked like additional site clean-up was necessary and I inquired as to whether this was known / realized before hand i.e. when the attempt at a deal with the company in question was made or discovered after the fact...

3) I asked if anyone had links to documents / whatever that showed exactly how much was spent and how it was spent... because I've seen many claims with varying amounts but nothing to actually fully substantiate what was being said...
You clearly are NOT taxpayer's,
I can't speak for anyone else because for all I know - they might live in Windsor or somewhere else other than Binghamton... but for myself the reality is that the business I'm a partner in does in fact pay taxes in the area...
and are only hijacking these threads because you are unable to stop attacking Ed.
I do not see anything with Arzouian's name on it in this thread... or any of the others going on and on about the store...

Are you actually stating as a fact that you KNOW that the many posts using various names with a location of e.g. Hallstead PA reall is Arzouian up to his usual antics ?

If so then thank you for that information... and if not - then why did you feel it was necessary to bring him into this conversation at this late date ?!
