Obama wants more fracking!

I wonder if Ithaca's Walter Hang, Binghamton''s Mayor Matthew T. Ryan, Elmira's Mayor Susan Skidmore, NYS Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Speaker Sheldon Silver all the rest of the obstructionist Democrats and grandstanders got that message from their comrade???

Gov. Cuomo, let's get it done. Is NYS Open for Business or not?

Obama emphasizes natural gas-fired energy, renewables in State of the Union
Feb 13, 2013

President Barack Obama made a push for cleaner power through both natural gas-fired power generation and renewable energy in his state of the union address Tuesday night, saying that America is "finally poised to control our own energy future."
http://www.po wer-eng...in-state-o.html

"After years of talking about it, we are finally poised to control our own energy future. We produce more oil at home than we have in 15 years. We have doubled the distance our cars will go on a gallon of gas, and the amount of renewable energy we generate from sources like wind and solar; with tens of thousands of good, American jobs to show for it. We produce more natural gas than ever before and nearly everyone's energy bill is lower because of it. And over the last four years, our emissions of the dangerous carbon pollution that threatens our planet have actually fallen

In the meantime, the natural gas boom has led to cleaner power and greater energy independence. That's why my Administration will keep cutting red tape and speeding up new oil and gas permits.

I prefer we focus on this:

"Last year, wind energy added nearly half of all new power capacity in America. So let's generate even more. Solar energy gets cheaper by the year – so let's drive costs down even further. As long as countries like China keep going all-in on clean energy, so must we."

In the meantime... maybe someone should send the President a memo letting him know about things like the following:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/27/business/en...

Especially since it is starting to look as though - while NG is a cleaner fuel to burn - that the full cycle for NG production is actually as bad / possibly more so than other fuels... in particular because of some of the very bad practices by the industry to save some money...

Inventions got us into this mess and inventions can get us out. use what you got where you got it. starting tomorrow i'm going to start building a solar tower with mirrors and black boxes with a wind turbine on top to power my own personnel fracking operation on my own farm just to upset the NIMBYS. so am i greedy? no....I'm happy and content with the way things are. I just like to piss people off.

Micahel Douchebag, you can focus on what you want but what President Obama said was.

"In the meantime, the natural gas boom has led to cleaner power and greater energy independence. That's why my Administration will keep cutting red tape and speeding up new oil and gas permits.
-Obama, State of the Union Feb. 10, 2013

A lot of thought went into every single word of that addresss. Could Obma be any clearer? He wants more gas drilling.

It looks like all the rest of the country gets it except NY, welfare & entitlement capital of the nation.

It must be horrible to be you - where just about every assertion you try to make is / can only be supported by name calling instead of facts...

Anyway...

I never said that the President didn't say that he wanted to cut red tape for oil and gas drilling... but would you mind showing me where he said what you are claiming i.e. that his statements were about fracking and in particular the horizontal fracking that most people are concerned about / especially in our area ?!

I do also find what appears to be your opposition to all types of cleaner energy production e.g. wind and solar - to be a bit odd... but you are entitled to your views...

Douchbag Michael, where do you think all our new natural gas is coming from???

It is coming from fracking. So when President Obama calls for cutting red tape and issuing more drilling permits he is talking about fracking.

But Douchebag Michael you can maintaia any delusions you want. Really nobody cares what you think that has been made painfully obvious.

It is coming from fracking.
Would you mind providing references showing that:

"all our new natural gas ... is coming from fracking"

After all...

Since your entire "argument" is based upon that premise... you must certainly will be able to fully substantiate your claim with facts... not opinion pieces... but cold hard industry / government data showing that EVERY new source of natural gas is currently from horizontal fracking.

Thanks !

Btw...

I am just curious... as I did not say I was against oil and gas production... and simply stated that I would prefer we focused on alternative energy sources...

Would you mind explaining to everyone why you got your panties in such a wad ?

Thanks again !!!

Sure thing, Douchebag Micahel:

http://www.pottsmerc.com/article/20130215/NEW...
low-in-2013

PITTSBURGH (AP)— Energy experts say the boom in Marcellus Shale natural gas production will slow this year but not because there’s any lack of supply.

The slowdown is happening because drillers are waiting for pipelines to expand, new markets to develop and wholesale prices to rise.

Type in natural gas boom and every link discussing fracking.

See, Douchabage Michael, everbody gets it except you. What's that like?

That is simply an article about the current level of production from some places where horizontal fracking is used... and nowhere does it make any statements that support your claim that:

"all our new natural gas ... is coming from fracking"

So again...

Would you mind providing proof of your claim that ALL new natural gas is coming from ( horizontal ) fracking... or will continue to devolve into posting juvenile name calling as your response ?!

Also...

While I realize NG production is the most important item for you... personally I still prefer to focus on this part of the speech:

"Last year, wind energy added nearly half of all new power capacity in America. So let's generate even more. Solar energy gets cheaper by the year – so let's drive costs down even further. As long as countries like China keep going all-in on clean energy, so must we."

It would take years to develop solar and wind energy to the point where it could supply the United States.

That's a stupid way to proceed when we have 100 years worth of clean burning NG under our feet just waiting to be unleashed....

It is NIMBY obstructionists like Doofus Ryan who is keeping us from tapping the vast reserves we are blessed with.

I can't wait until this fool is out of office and we can finally overturn the stupid ban he helped enact. A ban that serves no purpose other than disenfranchising the many landowner who happen to live in Binghamton's city limits.

Thankfully, Cuomo appears to have an open mind about this.

Wouldn't it be nice though to have it available if we need it... but that won't happen if people keep saying we should wait until the fossil fuels run out...

I mean...

That is what you're promoting... for us to wait until the fossil fuels run out until we really start pushing into alternative energy sources right... because otherwise you wouldn't be bashing those other sources...

At least that is the way I see it...

That only happens if we become 100% isolationists and do not sell any of that NG on the normal market... if we do sell it on the market then you can probably expect quite a bit of it to go to countries like China...

At that point you can throw that "100 years worth" idea right out the window.

We already are selling it to other countries.

But your assertion was:

"It would take years to develop solar and wind energy to the point where it could supply the United States.

That's a stupid way to proceed when we have 100 years worth of clean burning NG under our feet just waiting to be unleashed...."

So he was simply pointing out that the gas being obtained is NOT being used in the fashion you claim it would be i.e. in the USA... but instead is being exported... which means the entire 100 years worth for the USA routine is a bunch of nonsense...

And your idea of an intelligent rebuttal is name calling ?! Sheez.
