I am pleased to announce that the mayor has 2 opponents that will expose her lies and half truths about city finances and her political wranglings. I hope both of them will speak out and give the people the truth about how she conducts herself in public by stumbling out of bars on many evenings, showing up for work late, being late for appointments, lack of supervision of the day to day activities of the city, lack of respect by her entire board of Aldermen and the vast majority of city employees. There is so much more that needs to come out for the public to see and know. Please Mr. McKay and Mrs. Beckman, tell the voting public all that you have witnessed and know so we can make a good decision and remove her from public office.

I've heard a lot of bad about Mr. McKay. I know his wife but I don't know him too much. I've also heard a lot of good along with the bad -- a lot of mixed news.

Can somebody tell me a bit more about Mr. McKay? I don't have any real gripe about his performance as supervisor.

Would he make a good mayor? Is he just another good old boy?

I think it's fair to say that negative campaigning in our town as you are suggesting is a huge turnoff to voters. So unlike you I hope the candidates refrain from finger pointing and focus on getting their message out about their own personal vision for us in the future.
No Moran nor McKay

I could not think of one positive thing about McKay other than the fact that I am positive that he would rather tell a lie than the truth! McKay is on a power trip and just can't stand that he has been unable to find enough people that do not know who he really is to get elected. As for the wife, heaven forbid her becoming associated with the Mayor's office. She has been doing her best to be the Supervisor, but has offended many of the county employees that she expects to bow down to her! As for Connie, the "Ocean Springs town drunk", she has to go before she costs our town any more from her being in an inebriated state. The jury is still out on the chairman of the Planning Commission, but her quest for control is not a great attribute either. Choices for mayor are nonexistent. As McKay says, guess we will have to hold our nose and vote for Beckman, since the other two politicians have been feeding at the public trough too long already!!!

The 3rd party isn't going to win. Either McKay or Moran will win. Out of those 2 -- which one is worse? As in if "somebody put a gun to your head" -- which one would you choose?

Gulf is exactly right. Vote for the 3rd party and you've got four more years of Moran.

You cannot look at it like that.A vote for Beckman is a vote against the two politicians trying to get to state retirement heaven.Mckay has more issues than Moran that will keep him from getting elected.

Sure you can. Its the same reason Barack Obama is a horrible candidate who babbles about hope & change while not doing anything. Still in comparison to Mitt Romney or John McCain or Hillary, he was the best of all those candidates, which isn't saying much.

Ms. Beckman, short a fluke of nature will not win. Again I'm actually not taking sides, I have no bone in the fight over whether Moran or McKay is "better" or worse. From the gist of what people say on here & in the newspaper both are horribly flawed.

I know Mrs. McKay, lol, & I think I get what people were saying about her. Still I think she's a nice lady. But that doesn't necessarily make her husband a worse or better candidate.

Mr. McKay will get on the state retirement gravytrain either way because he hasn't has so many years "in public service" & will now get his pension til the entire system goes belly up. Same with Moran. She'll get her pension.

I can't vote in OS as I'm not a resident but I like OS & have many friends there, so I'd like the city to go a different path.

I think Mr. McKay would do himself a favor staying in his current job personally as he probably has more "stay" there and as the mayors office is more fickle. But hey his career.

But yea, short of lighting striking twice in the same spot either McKay or Moran will be the mayor come next year. You people just have to decide which monkey will throw less poo & make less of a mess.

Which is the same logic I used when backing Obama.(though in this state it wouldn't have mattered anyway as its too Republican)

McKay will probably bring more of his corrupt good old boy sh*t to office & Moran will bring more of her goofy artsy fartsy downtown beauty crap to office & more garbage contracts to friends & that sorta stuff.

I know it sucks but this is a situation where "which pill will make you sicker and you pick the one that makes you less sick."

What ever happened to Seren Ainsworth or Alves? Why aren't they running any more?

Man I wish they had an edit function on this site.

My comment: "Mr. McKay will get on the state retirement gravytrain either way because he hasn't has so many years "in public service" & will now get his pension til the entire system goes belly up. Same with Moran. She'll get her pension."

I meant to edit that to say "because he has so many years 'in public service' because of his years as a superisor" -- meaning he's still going to get his pension as he has enough "time in" to get it.

McKay killed any chance of getting my vote when he took his grandson on the Walkers DMR boat for a tax funded birthday party. Typical good ole boy bullshit.

Like his son coming from out of OS school district to immediate administrative position, bypassing MANY qualified in-district candidates.

Folks wake up.Beckman is just a distraction.Someone put her up to running because she knows she has no chance of winning. So who did it? I think she is in McKay's camp myself.I think they signed up within minutes of each other and then high fived.Good luck and may the best man/woman win!!!

No one with any connection to the Walkers and their home grown scandal should be considered for public office period. If you had a job created for you, if you were part of a DMR fishing trip(s), if you do their bidding,if you haver ever defended them to the public you are not worthy.Time that the voters rise up and say no more of the same.

Word is daughter Denyer got laid off yestrday. I guess the feed trough has been shut down. Time to get the truth out on who has been taking those boat trips. The family Denyer is now a memory. I wonder if Ocean Springs will continue to elect someone so well connected to the Walker empire?

I guess this was the plan all along. She would have taken votes from McKay not Moran.Once they realized this they asked her to step aside.

It is a shame that the People of Ocean Springs now do not have a qualified person to choose for Mayor. The two left would not even make a good DOG CATCHER and the people have to choose between he two. That makes it impossible for people to vote and feel good about their choice.Neither of them have done an honorable job representing the People of Jackson county plus both names have been mentioned in on going investigations that still have a long way to go.I feel for the Good People of Ocean Springs.
