Ok, people in clever, it's time a a change in you police department. Tell me what you think about getting a younger police chief that will lead the department in a direction where it will be more pro active and get grants to serve the citizens better. Tell me what you think, because I know the best guy for the job.

Who is the best person for the job? I would just like to know for information. As for the a younger chief might be good but in a different aspect a old chief is a wise chief!!

I know a person who is perfect for the jobs and use to work there. I would not really like to say his name because it could make him made, but he did work in Republic, I will say that.

Apparently you're just trying to drum up support for a friend or perhaps yourself and you haven't done the proper research.

Chief Terry Bean has applied for and received numerous grants including grants that supported two separate officer training academies, monies to pay reserve officers that provide the city with extra police protection, and a multi-county wide training session on the use of breathalyzer equipment. He is actively engaged with leaders in school district as well.

Chief Bean and his officers are an asset to the community and have done nothing that comes to mind that would warrant a change at this time. The rank and file officers are general younger guys that get along with everyone in the community... so we have the best of both worlds in our fine city.

Ok I agrre with you there, he did get a few things done, what does he do now. He doesn't make traffic stops, he sets in the office smoking and having heart attacks, and the other guys do all the work. He hired two brothers one got fired for being a drunk, the other is a overweight Bean, now the other two Applegate and Hicks are good officers. They want be there one more year and some other department will pick them up.

First off I think that Good news needs to take English 050. Not to talk crap but you need help. As for the "Overweight Bean" I dare you to walk up to him, and say that to his face. As far as his brother getting fired for being a drunk I do believe he quit, he did not get fired. Anyways I know that you do not have guts to walk up to him and say anything so I'm just going to stop talking about it and remember that this is the INTERNET and that you can always talk big here but not in the real world.

WEll, lets see,
I want to be a police chief that smokes five packs a day and drinks all the time. Then if a officer needs back up late at night lets go out there after I have been drinking. Well safe, also lets go hang out in a garage and smoke some dope

Clever Good

You speak as though you have some proof. So if you do why not take it to the proper authorities? Just asking. It also seems that you know the people there so why not talk to the ones that you trust? Why not go to a council meeting and speak your mind? Just questions, not tring to be a smartass here.

your just a mouthy jerk that doesn't know the first thing about our chief. he must have made you mad and this is the petty way you r trying to retaliate. chief bean is one of the best and most fair law enforcement officers out there and i have met them all over the country. he has done more for this community than has been done for several years. so take your backward jealous attitude and stick it.

I lived Clever may years and finally got a chance to get out. I agree that they need a change in the police department. Cheif Bean deos expect his officers to do all the work so he can get the glory.I also agree when was the last time you saw him in uniform doing trafic and through the summer forget it he won't even be in town he'll be at the lake.

there are jealous petty people out there that knows nothing of how our town is run. i personally know the hours that MR. BEAN devotes to the city. for i am his daughter in law. he does not smoke 5 packs of cigarettes a day nor do u EVER find him drunk. And what he does in his personal time is no business of yours he has job to do an does it very well. After hours is his personal time. that is what we have county officers for. Nor do you realize the people that call his home or knock on his door when he is OFF DUTY (that means u imbecile ot working). if U have PROOF of any wrong quit hiding behind the computer and make yourself and your PROOF known to us meer mortals. Barring you can leap from your holier than thou pedastal.
His a great guy

I worked for Chief Bean in late 2002 to mid 2003, when I left for a bigger city. Chief Bean was nothing but a great man to me and to my family. there was many times he came out in the mid of the night to help me out on something. If I was not getting paid so good where I am at now, I would go back to work for him in a heartbeat. Chief Bean keep up the good work and I miss working with you.

Hmm. I have read all the comments and am a shame to say most are Bullshit, How many of you judge another is a dirty shame. I know for a fact Chief Bean did a wonderful job for the town of Clever... And the New Chief Bruce is doing a very good job here so what is your problem? Which one of you could do the Job better? Wish one of you wants to put your Life on the line everyday? Which one of you wants to step up and be a Law Officer? Clever is not Mayberry and will never be that small town again we are growing and with that more crime comes to town everyday and some of you are the reason we need protected.

Just the Truth, you say you live in Clever yet you act surprised at the responses here? The people here (of Clever) like to stir the shit then set around and whine about it. Its been like that for years. I mostly agree with your comment. It seems that people here are a bit overly critical of the police department when the real problem is themselves.
However, people are people and in a small town you cannot categorize the few police officers that we have. Some excell in some areas while lacking in others.
Terry Bean trys/tried to keep the peace. It seems that was his first and foremost priority. Calm and quiet yet effective. To Terry right is right and wrong is wrong. Though it seems he did have his favorites. Yet I would say he played by the books most if not all of the time.
Applegate is a younger gentleman. Spent some time in Afghanistan. I want to say he did two tours but do not quote me on that. One would acquire the idea that he is not entirely pleasant to encounter by the way he presents himself to the public. That may or may not be true depending on who you are or the cause for encountering him. However he does have morals and can be expected to do what is right. The tone or words he chooses to carry out his actions may not be the most pleasant.
Blakely, once he finds out who you are and what your doing one will find he is a great police officer. He is very firm and assertive but respectful when respected. Officer Blakely takes each persons needs or concerns into consideration. Its possible this could be because he is a rookie or newer (that is an assumption based on observations) but personally I hope he never looses his finesse.
Officer Stoops I hear good things about. It seems he is tough on the ones who need it. Not much to say here. It appears he is just a cop out doing his job. He has an uncle in Ozark so one would assume his family is somewhat local.
Chief Randall Bruce. Very mixed opinions here. In all honesty it might be a good thing he is Chief. It keeps him doing paperwork. One can observe that he holds his self slightly higher than thou. Not excessively but there is some evidence which a little goes a long way when you have the responsibility of being an authority figure. He watches the high school kids leave of an afternoon which is helpful in many ways. However that can also make kids just learning to drive nervous so it is imperative that he presents himself to them in the most non-threatening way possible and let it be known that he is there to protect first and serve second. He may or may not present his self in that light but its hopeful that he does. He has the ability to be a fantastic police officer. He is capable of his duties being a police chief as he has a history of being a leader and being outgoing.
What people do not like and often misconstrue as "law enforcement in general" is the county of Christian county. Just look at the last 5 years and everything that has happened in this county. You have:
1. Sandra Bryant Little, was indicted under seal by a federal grand jury with four counts of mail fraud for failing to truthfully assess her own property.
2. Linden Lure, Christian County Sheriffs department were threatening to arrest people in May 2011 for something they have every legal right to. Claiming the river is not a navigable river making it not open to the public.
3. Cody Hastings. Although deserving a lengthy incarceration, the Christian County public defenders did not want to give him right to a fair trial by refusing to represent him in court.
4. Brent Paoli. While being an off duty Christian County deputy he was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after firing his service revolver during a dispute with a woman near the Missouri/Kansas border.

5. March 2012 Voter Fraud was Declared in Christian County. Orange generic ballots were handed out hours before the vote to select delegates began. Shortly after votes were collected and counted, the Christian County Republican Chair declared there was voter fraud and then scolded the attendees noting Republicans are supposed to be honest.

And thats just part of it.

One can see where people grow tired of how its been here as of recent. Our County just cannot be trusted to do whats right. But as for the city of Clever, it is not one and the same.

If one does not like law enforcement for what ever reason it is in their best interest to abide by the law and watch them like hawks.

Chief Bruce is a foul mouthed man with no morals or values, I guarantee I know him far better than any of you. He will destroy our city as we know it before the end of his term and his true colors will surely show. Just wait...

The man is a small minded bigot who obviously has no business being the police chief. His obvious bigotry will, if it already hasn't, come into play in the course of his job. Will he work as hard or protect those he feels superior to? Someone with such obvious hate should not be a police officer period. He needs to be fired.
