Yes, they were homeless and living in a white car. They have been to numerous churches in the area looking for financial help and counseling.

Just a little reality check...

As of this moment, there were 18 comments about a "fawn being put down" by the State, and only four posts here about a PERSON being stabbed!
And out of those posts, the first one was "good" enough to be removed.

I guess now we know why these two persons were looking for help. It's just a shame that it had to come down to this for both of them to finally get a bed to sleep in, courtesy of the State (or County).
I'm sure it has become MORE of a burden now, since they will be in jail and the hospital, instead of getting the help the had requested.

If one or both parties involved in this story had drugs on them, this thread would get 30 replies all of which were wishing death upon the druggies.

Where are all the idiots who are normally screaming throw away the key, or hope you die.

PLEASE...don't use God's name in vain !! It's not neccesary at all and VERY disrespectful !! Since when does having so many comments mean that it isn't an important situation. What more is there to say other then the stabbing is terrible and how scary that it is happening along with everything else happening around here...especially around Gettysburg. Just because the deer article had more responses doesn't mean that was considered more important. You didn't have anything to say other than a comment about no one else commenting on this thread...that had NOTHING to do with the topic of the thread !! That is why other threads have more comments...you commenting un-needed posts and people responding to your un-needed post. And of course Bil's totally uncalled for comments. I'd rather see threads with comments worth while reading, that have to do with the topic, other then people making un-neccesary comments such as yours. Where is your "concerned" comment about this topic ?? Your complaining about other people not commenting and that is it. No well wishes for the victim or questions about what happened was made by you. Your unrelated comment isn't any better then people not commenting altogether.

Oh Bil--you are the one usually hoping for people to die -- did you have a change in heart with how you are treating people ! Maybe there's hope for you ! What a nice change to not see you wishing harm on someone !!

What does one say when another is stabbed? I'm sitting here thinking it's a darned shame and I hope she's alright. I'm sure everyone is thinking that. This article just posted so take a breath and realize people are still processing that this happened at a place we all frequent.

Time are tough right now and to be homeless, living in a car for now, dealing with who knows what financial difficulties, then to be stabbed 9 times, I can't imagine how she's feeling.

I hope she recovers.

Hey, this dude stabbed a woman, sheesh, he took a friggin' hunting knife, and drove it into her, yep, shoved a dang knife into her numerous times, the fact they were "homeless" doesn't have a thing to do with it. Here's simply another attempted murder, by a murderer, has nothing to do with his "environment", rather, has to do with his being a killer. This guy needs hung in the public square, period. For crying out loud, he shoved a friggin' hunting knife into this woman, get him off the streets, and keep him off the streets, matter of fact, a GREAT example of the need for the death penalty. This is OUR damned town, OUR community, OUR families and children live here. Lock this bastard up and throw away the key, PERIOD!

I believe I said THIS in the first post:

I think that is considered a relevant comment to the issue!

Uhhhhhh. Gene...I never said you didn't have a relevant comment to the issue of this terrible incident !! I was commenting on how Sk8er complained about this issue not having more comments by people then the deer article, when he never made a comment that had to deal with the issue in this thread either. Not a wishful thought for the victim to get better or anything but complaineed that there weren't more comments on this thread, like there were in others, when he himself did not make one "about" the incident. That's what my comment was about. I never even said anything about your comment, so why are you replying to me with this statement??

Anyway, my thoughts and prayers continue for this victim. Hope she recovers and is able to get through this and any other troubles she may have. This is terrible this happened. Too many slayings and attempted slayings are happening way too much in this area all at once....what is happening around here ?? Of course even just one is too much, but it seems like almost every other day or week there is something in the paper like this happening around here. SO Scary !! People like him, need to be taken off the streets and locked away so that they are no longer a threat.

Again, my thoughts and prayers are with the victim to fully recover...and hope she gets all the help she needs to make it through all her hardships.

Unbelievable,
I thought you were lumping the two together because he basically repeated my statement.
I think I got it now.

As the economy gets worse and tensions heighten, I think there will be more incidences like this with people "on the fringe". Maybe NOT stabbings per se, but more conflict in general with couples and families struggling to make ends meet, and pushed beyond the limit.
The decisions to buy a candy bar or gas for the car, may be the trigger for a family battle. Those already in dire straits, and at their wits ends, need help.

I'm not a church-going person, but I believe that Churches need to take the initiative and do all that they can when these people come to them for help. They can't save them all, but there may have been SOMEBODY that could have seen this happening with this particular couple. Maybe.
And by NO means am I saying that the churches are at fault. They ARE the frontlines though, and maybe those turning these couples away need a better system of networking that will keep these people from falling through the cracks.

There is no funding--funding is being cut left and right. The frontlines have to turn people away not due to networking problems but because nothing is there.
Mental issues--no where to go, no where to refer them to.
Food Banks--are at an all time low, they hardly have any food.
Housing--York County was at a 2 year waiting list period and Adams county was at a 9 month waiting list period (this could have changed but the last time I checked (Closer to the beg. of the year) those are the stats that were given)
There are really no homeless shelters in Adams/York Counties and if there are--they are full or have very strict acceptance rules.
No mental issues, no addictions, no this or that and it is sad to say but 95% of the people turned away have at least one of the "No-No rules" if not all of them.
These are trying times and it is very sad to say but we are going to see more and more stories like this in the paper and on the news.
Churches maybe able to help out with one months rent OR maybe a security deposit but what about the other months of rent? Churches maybe able to help out with a weeks worth of food but..what about the next week for food?
It is really sad to say but there is just nothing out there to assist in giving the proper help needed for people.

Sounds like a lot of bleeding heart liberals on here, too bad! I ain't makin' no excuse for attenpted murder, you can, but I'm not. Poor people over millenia have scraped to get by, and untold millions have done so without attempted murder. I'm callin' it as I see it, you ain't gonna like it, I know, but this dude stabbed this woman, rich or poor, destitute, homeless, or whatever, it ain't no excuse or justification for attempted murder, period!
