I should invite the officials to sit on my porch in the mornings and watch the kids walk to school. I find more butts than I'd like in my yard. And 1 is more than I'd like.

I think it is a good idea. While you are at it...no pants should be over one's butt. Pull them up! I don't want to see your grandfathers underwear.

Boyer and Lanius have it wrong. An Ordinance will not change behavior, what you do with having the Ordinance can. Hey Hanover Evening Sun, let's measure the strength of their convictions and do a follow-up article in 6 months. How many fines?

The Biglerville Borough Council must not have a lot to do at their meetings.

Amusing!!!! This is just another attempt for council to give the impression that they actually "DO" work on solving problems during their meetings. Funny thing is, this will not solve nothing. These kids will continue to smoke ciggs, smoke pot, crack, drink, have sex, etc..... right under the noses of all in Biglerville.

Here it comes parents - another fine that you are going to have to pay because your son or daughter do not have the money to pay it.

Who is paying for their cigarettes? If they can pay for them, then they can pay the fine. If not, they need to get a job at the local fast food places...or does little Johnny or Susie think they are too good to work at places like that...heard that before!

Like I told my kids when they were 16, get a job somewhere or I will get you one cleaning up sh1t at the local horse farm...you pick! They both got jobs, one at a fast food place and the other at a grocery store.

Quit being whimpy parents and allowing your kids to control you!

If you are concerned with the debris, cite those dropping their butts to the sidewalk with a littering citation. Afterall, it is littering. Nice attempt to improve the health of the youth of the borough, but we were all kids once, and found ways to hide the things that we were doing.

My first thought was -- "hate to be a kid today" or the parent picking up the bill for their child's thoughtlessness.

I like the comment about "quit being a whimpy parent" and agree wholeheartedly. This is a long standing issue - parents not parenting anymore and anything goes ( adults and youth ) attitude. We need to set rules and enforce them. And you will find that children actually appreciate having boundaries - plus they realize you care ( I am a parent of grown children so know and have been told it was appreciated ).

This particular prohibition could stop a lot of behavior that is disreputable and be of value to this community and others. Hopefully they will enforce it fairly and with prudence.

EXACTLY! This is just another tax--one for having teens--and an excuse to harrass teens. It is not a crime to be a teenager. AND, now all young adults will have to carry their "papers" (identification) with them in case PO sees them smoke a cigarette, or if they can be seen in their pocket.

It's time to stand up to harrassment of teens and young adults by local police. Why do we tolerate this???????

How will we feel about this law when fires are accidently started this summer by teens tossing lit cigarettes to try to avoid a fine???????

AND, you were there? What did you see? It is not a crime to be young. YOUNG PEOPLE ARE OUR FUTURE. LET'S TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT. KARMA: EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL COME BACK TO YOU. One day these will be the people in charge. How do you think they are going to treat the "old folks" then?
