Death penalty decision still looms for alleged Gettysburg shooter
#1 Nov 13, 2012
This is a very violent man who was on the streets of Gettysburg, just another example of the gang mentality and culture of violence and guns that has taken over in Gettysburg.
If he is found not guilty, there is going to be a celebration by these street gangs and they will get even bolder than they are now. The alleged shooter doesn't care, he's back in jail with his gang buddies, he's probably more powerful behind bars than he is on the street.
The leadership of these gangs is usually on death row in these types of prisons. They have NOTHING to lose. Very violent and scary individuals. You would not want to meet them on the streets, but unfortunately, they are all over Gettysburg.

This man has a lot of thinking to do before he goes back into the real world. I think he does deserve some time in prison. If he does get out he should be checked in on regularly. The gang that he was in will continue to do what they do with or with out him so trying to stop them by keeping this man in prison for life is not going to work. although i think he should get at least 20 years, i feel he should get a fair trial.

The problem is that in Getrysburg, there are twenty other gang members waiting to move up and take this guy's place. So there may very well be new gang crimes occurring in a regular basis while the factions fight it out on the streets of Gettysburg.
Often times the gang members are more powerful for being in prison. They can direct those other gang members on the street to commit crimes in order to support the gang, usually store robberies and burglaries, armed home invasions, that sort of thing.

I sold my home because of the real threat of a home invasion and moved to a safer area, Philadelphia.

I agree, certain areas of Philadelphia are far safer than anywhere in Gettysburg. They are far more expensive than anywhere in Gettysburg, too.
Sadly, most Gettysburg locals couldn't afford to live in those select areas. They would be forced to live in one of the river ward neighborhoods or a border zone "up and coming" area.
