Why is race always a factor when it comes to this kind of subject? Domestic violence is present in all races and all classes and does not just affect this couple. It is depressing that Butte County is full of people who are closed minded, uneducated, and biased. Being uneducated makes you the racist you are today!

Black males are more likely to exact violence on their women than any other race, although Hispanics aren't far behind. I'm sorry, apparently I can. I have been involved in various organizations concerning domestic violence, rape, ect. All I am saying is that when it happens to be a black aggressor on a white female, every one acts like the whole world is ending but when it is a "white" couple altogether, no body says anything bad. These aggressors, for Nidal Hasan, comes from a very closed minded background and because his religion says that "it's ok to kill your disobedience wife, go ahead", he will do it. Many people in the world (like the victim and suspect) are uneducated and they are not aware of the risks and consequences that carries on with it and that is why there is never a successful solution. Domestic violence is preventable and stoppable and people should be aware of it. It is just an apartheid, something that you don't understand. So get your stuff right next time because I wasn't crying racism, I was saying it was a RESPONSE you idiot!

I definitely agree. It is the "culture" of black males that makes them more aggressive. Their past oppression (history)is one of the explanations for deviance and violence. But again not all blacks are violent, you have to consider their background, SES, and ect. There are important factors that contributes to a person's character. If you have a black male who is a high school drop out, unemployed, and using drugs, the chances higher.

Hi. I tried to check out your links below and the first three did not work out for me (maybe you could retry posting them if you think you erred in doing that. Maybe they are just unavailable temporarily). The fourth link did work and the data you report below is for the years 1993-1998 only, they do not extend beyond that so you cannot generalize beyond this period of time about race and violence with these numbers. Do you know what more recent figures are? Maybe you could post those for us if you have access to them.

With regard to Africa, have you considered that it might not be race (there are a lot of races and ethnicities in Africa, by the way, including millions of "white" people), but the fact that Africa is an underdeveloped, war-torn continent awash in authoritarian states and that violence against women (and all people) is much greater in countries at war than countries at peace and much more common in nondemocratic than democratic countries? If you reported numbers of people killed in wars in Africa v. the US in the last few years I bet you would be surprised that other kinds of violence are not even higher in Africa than what you report below. What do you think the numbers would be for Europe during WW II or the US during the Civil War. I bet very comparable to Africa today. Just something to think about.

Finally, how do you explain this quote, which comes straight out of the last link that you yourself posted?

Government agencies and non-profits create these stats to get more money for their social programs. Yes I believe even Chico PD and Butte County play this gaming the system.
