Full story: Hampton Roads Daily Press

Two months ago, Shadow was one uncooperative pit bull. He had no interest in toys placed in his kennel and would firmly anchor his paws in the middle of walks, refusing to continue.

How about an update on the children molested by the former Newport News cop who has his lengthy sentence suspended and is still roaming the streets? Lying PETA folks stirred up that story that the dogs had to die and couldn't be tamed to horrify the public and get more jail time for Vick...Now the dogs are just fine...It must be a miracle...NOT!!!...enough already...let the story go...will ya!! dang!!

Why is this news? PETA is a bunch of spine-less waste of human flesh who intimidates people into believing that animals are as important as people.--Having this crap as news seems to lend credence to the fact that you have bought into their B.S.

I could care less what happens to these dogs. You should beat them all to death with baseball bats and dump their bloody carcasses in front of the PETA building.

I was pleased to read an update on the dogs - and to know that there was a better outcome for them than being destroyed. Best friends is calling them Vicktory dogs - in addition to providing a sanctuary for the dogs that are too damaged to be pets they are doing a great job communicating how badly dogs like this are treated by some. Perhaps there will be a positive outcome from this by calling attention to dog abuse and eliminating it.

Hey, lets build a sanctuary for God and add the poor and the homeless the fatherless and the widows. Peta has no right to intrude on Americans right of property, and that is all animals are property. Nobody gets mad at you for loving your dog or pet so why do dog lovers get mad when people do what they want with their property.

I not really a fan of PETA either -- but it's not PETA that got Michael Vick into trouble - he broke the law.

Once a fighter, always a fighter, and they will attack again. Let's hope it's not your child they chew up. I like animals, but not to the point where it blinds my rationale judgement. They should have all been put down.

Animals ARE equally important and I'd take an animal over most humans any day and it didn't take PETA to make be believe that one. Still can't stomach them though so I will agree with you that they are a waste.

I could care less about you, should I beat you to death and dump your carcass somewhere. This was about one of the most ignorant comments I've read.

These particular dogs will remain at the sanctuary - why punish the victims?

Those dogs are going to be trouble. If they're not smart enough to see that, then they should be put in a cage, not the dogs. Not only that, they should be put on notice that they will be liable for their future actions.

Is it safe to visit this area ?
Are the dogs locked up ?

I'd hate to be out and about in canyon lands and get attacked by trained fighting dogs that should have been put down and euthanized instead of saved and caged !

They are caged, aren't they ?

It's too bad that Michael Vick isn't capable of making progress.
