Letters: The reasons to incorporate

Is Carmel Valley considering incorporating for the wrong reason? Can a city avoid development with rural zoning without violating the property rights clause in the Fifth Amendment? Few people challenge government regulation in court because of the cost, but large developers may have more resources than small cities.

The PG Library can be open and serve the residents on much less than the $650,000/year that measure J will collect from home owners. The City Council and Mayor have shown no initiative to make the changes that would allow this to happen. Another example of mismanagement and overspending of public funds.

A No vote on Measure J will force the Council to keep the libraray open by making the adjustments that should have been made years ago.
