Sorry Pound folks, but I couldn't think of a single player to name for you, also something to think about is the fact at one time the LPD also included; Ervinton, Pennington Gap, Gate City, Thomas Walker...if so Trazel Silvers from Ervinton def goes on the list somewhere.

If we are gon talk TE u have to go with Justin Morgan. He was All State and a lot better than Chad Sartin. Also Jason Sartin was one helluva an athlete, him and Zirkle are up there at all around. Steve Hubbard doesnt have the state titles Shupe does but Hubbard was a great coach. Def deserves recognition.

What about that Robinson boy from Clintwood. I have seen him play almost every sport and i have never seen anyone as athletic as he was. JHam and him used to go out and play tag football on the field and that boy kept up with him and never lost a beat with him and that was when he was in highschool and justin at the redskins...

Rick Mullins since he has kicked appy and powell valleys ass as union. Player is T Jones cant argue with the numbers he was good enough to make phil robbins look good, and that was no small task!!! I also cant think of anyone from pound they sucked no matter what the sport was.

phil looks like a bowling pin turned up side down! My sister could have coached the Jones brothers to state champs!! Ralf was a asshole that prospered because the coalfields was full of big numbers of athletes, far different than it is today. tie for coach between Turner and Mullins. Tom could have took phils bench and won state, Mullins because he takes the smallest school in LPD deep in playoffs every year. Does Pound and Wise have a football team???

I think Phil is a little overrated. Phil coached at John Battle and did absolutely nothing, notta, zilch. Phil had a losing record, didn't change the direction of the program or leave it better than before he arrived. Powell Valley wasn't a bottom feeder when he arrived. Powell Valley won the State Title the year befor he came to BSG. Phil had plenty of great athletes, good numbers and the fans. Phil is good coach but take the great athletes and transfer them to Appy,Burton,Wise,or Coeburn and see how many LPD's and State Titles Phil would have won.
I bet those other schools would have more hardware.

Top Coach: Ralph Cummins
Top player: Edd Clark

If Phil Robbins wasn't a good coach then PV wouldn't have made their run. Yes, they had a bunch of talent. But talent alone doesn't make a team good. The coach comes up with the strategies to win. Without good strategy and leadership, a team is a joke, no matter how much talent is there. The talent is the icing on the cake.

Anybody who says Phil Robbins wasn't a good coach or anybody who leaves Phil Robbins out of the rankings as one of the best coaches knows very little. I never liked the man because he is a jerk but he was a great coach who had a good game plan.

I really liked watching the two running backs Glynn Phillips and Jon Fleming from Clintwood. Those guys could really put up some numbers.

As far as the coach I'd have to give it to Phil Robbins or Ralph Cummins. Rick Mullins is starting to work his name into this category.
