They are'nt getting in a hurry to ship our cell phones like they promised, but I guarentee the next bill will arrive on time,I only hope they have better customer service than Alltel has in Wise, They act like they are doing you a favor if they can even help you with a problem with your phone. I hope they fire the entire crew and hire a whole new crew. They're are the rudest bunch I've ever seen. I'm thinking about getting a Smart talk phone at Wal-mart.$45 bucks a month unlimited calling, text etc.

I was curious about this too. I went to the order status at www.att.com/mobilityorderstatus and it still says processing. I thought they said it should have been here by Dec 4th.

Well they told me they was shipping them on the 4th and we would activate them on the 10th, they told me that about a month and a half ago. I called a min ago and they said that it will be the middle of the month before they ship. And plus they told me that my phones could be delayed due to availability. Ain't this some crap

Well I signed up for my phone back in Sept (I think) when they sent the first letters out, I chose it online....so something like this (delayed due to availability shit) wouldn't happen! I hope ur wrong! But who cares when we get em as long as our Alltel phone continues to work until we get em! I just can't wait to have a new phone with a good camera!

The letter I got states that phones will be shipped after Dec 4th. They will not be activated until after the first of the year. I recently added a line and got a message I could still choose the phone for new line by Dec 5th. I assumed they will start shipping out this week.

I do know they have hired 15 new employees. And yes several up there were soooo rude. I only had a question and one girl said sorry I am on a break. But what other choice do we have, Crystal communications is worse!! She is very rude especially if you are not a MAN. I've giving At&t the first 25 days and if I don't like the service I will switch to verizon or get a phone from wal-mart.

I logged onto my account the other day and had a message that all Alltel services would be discontinued from now through early 2011. I will need to move to AT&T GoPhone prepaid service to avoid disruption. Prior to your service shutdown date you will be notified via text message of exact shutdown date & when you can migrate your service. You'll be offered a "great deal" (we'll see) on your new phone & any balance leftover will transfer.

I have had AT&T in the past, although not in this service area, and chose to pay the early termination fee because the reception was horrible, continuously dropped calls, and the customer service was subpar.(much like the former Alltel store in Norton or bearded "Peggy" from the credit card commercials) I'll give them another chance to see if the network or service has improved, but I have my doubts.

Also, a note to those considering the Straight Talk phones from Wal-Mart. If you go outside your service area the phone will not pickup service...no calls, no texts, just a clock & a paperweight. Plus, NEVER give them a card number for automatic replenishment. Too many horror stories from people who have chosen that route and ending up being charged double, triple, and sometimes even more...most of which ended up having to cancel their cards to stop the charges. If you want a native English speaking customer service rep call in the morning or afternoon, in the evening and nighttime you'll be calling India.

Hope this info helps some people.

Just spoke with an alltel rep on the phone... he said the phones wont ship until Jan 22nd (date is changed daily by AT&T he noted). Also said that you have 30 days to cancel your service with no penalty once you activate the new phone.

as far as the reception, service etc it should be the same as Alltel because they are just taking over altel and will be using the same towers etc. which wasn't much huh

i have the straight talk from wal mart and have traveled several states without a problem! actually since I have had their service there has been only two problems adding the card and it was resolved both times in under 10 minutes! you could not ask for a better deal than 45 bucks for unlimited talk text and web

This is not true. Several of the towers that Alltel uses now are not owned by Alltel. They are owned by companies who invested in the area and then leased access to the towers to Verizon and Alltel.

My understanding is that, for example, there will NOT be a tower in Wise when AT&T takes over. They have one scheduled to come online in December 2011. That makes sense... Alltel does NOT own the tower in Wise.

Additionally, as it stands today, Alltel customers are able to roam on Verizon's towers locally. This has been the case for years. However, since Verizon and AT&T use different wireless technologies (CDMA vs GSM) this will also no longer be the case.

It's a wait and see kind of thing.

Cell phone towers are not owned by any certain service provider. they are owned by private companies. Many providers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint) can operate off of the same tower. When you look at a cell tower, you’ll often notice multiple triangular platforms going up the pole. Generally, these each belong to separate carriers. They do this so that there is no need for multiple companies having their own seperate towers in one area. No one provider can dictate whether another provider can use the same tower. Most carriers have effectively exited the tower business and sold their towers to companies like American Tower (AMT) and Crown Castle. These companies construct, maintain and operate the towers, and lease space to the carriers. AT&T will have their network set up on all the same towers stations that Alltel was set up on. Where ever you got your information from im sorry to inform you it is wrong. Why would AT&T buy an area to give it less service. If anything they will try to make it better and plus Wise is in the center of the county, they are going to have service towers.(However, since Verizon and AT&T use different wireless technologies (CDMA vs GSM) this will also no longer be the case.
It's a wait and see kind of thing) What do you mean by this? Are you thinking that AT&T is going to CDMA or vice versa, i dont think so.
