I am very concerned about my children's health care. I am looking for a new Dr. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a bad experience with Dr. Vacco. I really liked him when he first came but it seems that his bedside manner has really went downhill.

Well he NEVER wants to treat my children for anything!!!!! I will state how many children I have but I am an experienced parent and I know when something is not right with my child. The nurses and office staff are wonderful and I really hate it for them because they are the ones that catch the crap from him. I just heard it with my own ears, him talking down to one nurse the other day when I was at the office. He attude is just terrible!!!! It does not take a scientist to know something is going on up there, you walk in the office and it is EMPTY!!!! Everyone is getting out of there.

The best pediatrician we ever had was Dr. Chris Stapleton. I have not had much dealings with Dr. Vacco, but at least he is better than the DR that went in right after Stapleton left, Dr. Gundabva...he told me my child was trying to get attention and was a hypochondriac when I brought her for wheezing and a fever. I didn't listen to him, I drove to Kingsport and took her to the ER where they did blood work and a chest x-ray and she was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. She could have died if I had listened to Gundabva. Bottom line, no one knows their child as well as a parent, if you feel something is wrong and the dr. tells you otherwise, always go for a second opinion, regardless of who the dr is.

Dr. Litton in Pennington is supposed to be a great family doctor & treats children, as well. I've heard only good things about him. We use Dr. Shook in Kingsport, but that is quite a drive for many people. It's worth it to us, though. Love him & the staff there!

Dr. Vacco is just very blunt and direct. Some people can take and appreciate someone who is straight forward and some do not. If you can't take it, go somewhere else. Dr. Vacco is a wonderful Dr. so it would be your loss.

I take my son to dr. vacco but i am going to switch him to another dr. my son just turned 3yrs. old n he told me he was adhd and that he wants to send him to a specialist to be put on medication for it although i made it clear that i do not want my son on that bs. i was on it when i was younger til i was about 13 n i started having headaches after i starting taking it they did find a tumor on my brain when i was 12 which i still have to this day n i still have problems with headaches. i have dizzy spells, i pass out and thats part of the problems i have b/c of the tumor. i really dont know if it has anything to do with one another but i believe it does but idk. but my point being i am not putting my son on that medicine n watch him have headaches n be a zombie n who knows what all it can cause. if anyone else has been on this med. n then found out they have a brain tumor plz let me know. n i dont think any dr. should argue with a parent about putting their child on unnecessary n dangerous medication. so im gonna find a better dr. for my son...any suggestions?

Ive been takin my kids there for 6 yrs,and NEVER have I went there and they not weight them...Never....And Im there all the time...the nurses are wonderful....Just bc Dr vacco doesnt give antibiotics all the time, doesnt make him a bad Dr...He gives you meds when your child needs them....Ya know,if children are on antibiotics all the time, then it messes up there bags...Googled it...antibiotics kills the bacteria that lives in the bowels..which suppose to actually be there...so yeah...they could end up pooping in a bag when they get old...a colostomy bag(spelling)....but I like him ....no other drs around here are good..so you just gotta choose one

Well chances are if you son was diagnosed with that he has it,and needs to be put on meds....Just tell him you would like another medicine...switching Drs isnt gonna help...These Drs around here are all about the same...

sometimes it is a virus and will go away on its on..they dont needs antibiotics everytime they have a little cold..its horrible for them...unless they dont get better on their own within maybe 5-7 days then they MAY need an antibiotic....He just doesnt want to,prescribe meds to yours or anyone elses children when they dont need it...hes lookin out for your child...unlike some other Drs...

well my child goes to him,and he checked my child for strep which was NEG,so instead of checkin her for anything else,he told me to send her back to school....well later than evening my child got so bad,I rushed to the Er,where they diagnosed my baby with MONO...I mean he didnt even see it,or test it or nothing....anyways they had to put my child on antibiotics at the ER bc,my poor babies throat was sooo bad...I mean sometimes hes okay..and sometimes hes not..

It's totally your decision if you want your child on medication or not. There are non-narcotic meds for ADHD. But before worrying about that I suggest you DO take your child to the psychologist to have him tested. He may have ADHD or he may not. They not only test for this but for other things also. Autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, etc. The list goes on and on of the things that MAY be going on with your child. They also do IQ testing. I'm not saying anything is going on with your child but if it is the sooner it's found the better. Bless you and your child.
