I am related to the Millikens of Dover
Do any of you know them?
I went to Dover Elementry as I remember my first teacher Miss Mcgregor
I know (knew) a few Millikens there. I don't live there now and haven't for a while. I also went to Dover Elementary. Judging though on who was your teacher was, I know I'm a few years older than you. I believe she was my brother's first grade teacher. He is 45. He still lives in Dover.

I'm from Indian mound. The land is haunted but not the house. We parked in the driveway one night and when we got out a huge shadow walked right in front of us.I can tell you several stories of hauntings around Dover.

Hello Kas61,, I belong to a paranormal group here in Ky and was very interested in the history and myths of Bellwood Mansion. Upon surfing the internet I found a very well spun story of what appeared to be complete horse shit! What makes it worse and makes me very angry is that this people on this web site that spurred up this yarn of a tale is selling something that they are claiming came to them or they found at Bellwood Mansion, what a crock! I just thought maybe since you knew people or family there this can get back to the owner so they can seek legal help or advice as I find this appalling at the audacity of these people to make up stories and either take items from the property or take advantage of the true owner, This gives a bad name for TRUE paranormal investigators! Well here is the link, http://shop.hauntedcuriosities.com/THE-UNION-... ,,,, good luck and Hope I helped~~~~Donna

I've posted several times that I have never heard any evidence that the house is haunted and that most of what has spurred these rumors are the stories behind the original owner of the house. My Exes family used to own it and many a night has been spent in the house with no experiences. It is no creepier than any other older house in Stewart Co. The only thing I have heard about a haunting there always comes from someone that is out of town. IMO any "group" that comes to do a paranormal study on this house is wasting their time and money. I lived right down the street from there my whole life. Anna ray is a family friend. She stays in the Bellwood mansion some. It is not all that haunted at all. I used to fish down there all night and seen nothing heard nothing. And used to take my friends there and try to scare them. The only scare they got was me yelling boo. So honestly. It's nice to look at but don't travel far to see it or u r wasting gas lol

Does the owner of the property ever grant visitors? The slave cemetery sounds interesting

Man I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this post. Yea, somehow this place has gotten the reputation of being a great place for investigations but unfortunately IMO it just isn't. I grew up in the area and lived there for almost 40 years and still have family there. Other than it being kind of a creepy place at night and having a creepy story attached to it concerning the original owner, it is just a run down old house. IMO one would get a much better investigation visiting the surrender house, Ft Donelson battlefield or the national cemetery. I know of an incident that happened over the Thanksgiving holiday where a shadow person was seen. People report seeing soldiers all the time in that area.

And yes, Ms Keatts doesn't take too kindly of anyone trespassing on her land.
Bellwood was owned by my family for years. Spent many summers there with cousins who lived in the house. No way is Bellwood haunted. Still have blue rocks from the furnace. Would love to own the house, and live in it. Lots of wonderful memories. Thanks for all your comments. Bellwood has always been a special place for me. Judi.

Enjoyed your post regarding Bellwood. I can assure, it is NOT haunted, but a wonderful place which my family owned, and I spent many memorable summers with cousins, who lived in the house. Did you know any Wallace's from Dover. I think some of the kids relocated to Granite City, years ago, probably long before your time. I have lost touch with so many people from Dover.

You can't set up an appt to visit. It is privately owned. No one lives there (or they didn't used to) and the owner doesn't take kindly to trespassers. It is posted with lots of signs stating such. It is in Dover, TN off of Old 79 HWY right before you get to the Bellwood boat dock. And it really isn't a "mansion". It is an average size house for the time period ... lots of fireplaces, etc. But ... I would be happy to give directions to anyone who wants to just go stand on the road and look at it. Trust me though ... it's not all that. There is a pretty cool iron furnace though right past the property that was in operation during the time the house was originally occupied though. There is also an old slave cemetery but it is on the property and you would have to scale a fence and trespass to get to it.
The owner passed away today. She was 97. 2/8/17

LOL ... I didn't mean any offense to you about being disappointed. I guess I feel that way because it is because I was raised around there and have seen alot of places I would consider spookier than that place. It fascinates me that people actually think it is haunted. I believe it has to do with the house's history that leads people to believe that. The man that built the house wasn't the nicest person to his slaves. My exes family owned that property before the woman that owns it now and they have spent the night in the house several times and saw and heard nothing unusual. Of course that doesn't mean you wouldn't. I guess we just have different views of what is spooky. If you go to Dover though, be sure to visit the national cemetery, Ft Donelson and the Surrender House in town. There have been reports of shadow people (soldiers) at all three places. Have fun.
My grandmother was born there in 1926.just an old plantation house no less no more...

Part of the house is gone destroyed in civil war by cannon fire in the attempt and success of destroying the IRONORE furnace located very near and was occupied by union army for a brief period of time. Then as time went on it was later on occupied by later kin of the previous. My Grandmother was born there in 1926 and her people were residents for many years prior and later not exactly sure on that date, just yet...
