HORRIBLE SERVICE. HORRIBLE FOOD. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY MANAGEMENT/OWNER. HORRIBLE WAIT TIME (DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE PLACE WAS EMPTY). I wouldn't eat at this place again if you paid me or put a gun to my head.
Awful

The place was a nice change for the current options of bars out there. The food was good but the staff could get a little more training. I think the place has great potential to be very fun once more staff is hired.

I thought the place was great. Like a new shirt you always have to iron out a few wrinkles, but the staff and owners were all friendly. The place itself is beautiful. I am looking forward to spending more time there. It's great for the Countryside.

I went to Tavern on La Grange twice, both times the service was excellent and the ambiance was very relaxing. The food was phenomenal, I ordered the clams with linguine and my wife ordered the skirt steak. On Saturday I had the Tavern Chicken, it was so tasty that I could still taste the flavor the next day. The service was friendly, the Owner's wife came by to talk with us twice to see if everything was good. I would greatly recommend Tavern on La Grange, the new "Look" on La Grange. I look forward to warmer days to try the tables outside, oh and the margaritas were really good.

I took my wife here for her birthday on Friday, as she choose this new place to try out.
The grilled calamari was like rubber, I told the staff, no replacement.
The meal was awful I had Fruita de mar, seafood pasta, this is the first time to have fish with bones in this dish. The clams were full of sand aand I spoke with Kathy, manager. They replaced my meal without the fish, but the clams still loaded with sand.
My wife had shrimp with white wine sauce and she loved it. We might go back to try something diferent but not the seafood.
Our waiter was Steve, he was the only redeeming part of the meal as very nice and good service.

I feel it is my duty to leave this post for anybody contemplating going here. I was there Saturday night (1/7/11) and it was a horrible experience. The food was very average, and WAY overpriced. The drinks were ridiculously priced, and they bumped the martini's from 12.00 to 14.00 if you wanted anything other than bar booze. For some sick reason, the place was jammed. I suspect this was because of the band that played at 9:00 (they were good - I must confess). The worst part of the evening was our horrible waiter Mario (he's probably the joker that left the positive review on 3/21). He was very slow, and quite stupid. He had the nerve to tell us that they "were out of glasses" when we requested water). They left a table of six with only four place settings for 3/4's of the meal, and never brought us bread. I work in the industry, and I promise you that any positive reviews that you might see, are coming from the staff, because this place sucks.

To those of you complaining, this is the ONLY dance floor/party venue in Northern Illinois that sits in a safe neighborhood! If you really think you have been mistreated here, it's a walk in the park compared to how mistreated people are at, for instance, the 115 Bourbon Street venue, which sits in an area loaded with shootings, homicides, armed robberies, lethal gangs such as the Gangster Disciples, the Latin Kings, the Black P Stones, and the Mickey Cobras. That place, and in fact all other Chicagoland dance floors, every night have crowds that are practically half gang bangers that are looking to start massive chaos. And even worse, every night I am sure, cars in the parking lot of 115 Bourbon Street, as well as practically every single venue with a dance floor, get vandalized, shot up, burglarized, and even stolen. Worse, people get shot and murdered in cold blood in the parking lots of those Chicago clubs every night, there are even likely shootings, stabbings, brawls, fights, and homicides inside many of those Chicago clubs. And Chicago gangs do NOT confine their violence and attacks towards enemy gangs; Chicago gangs also very commonly attack INNOCENT PEOPLE all the time!

The place was packed more than likely because this is Chicagoland's ONLY dance floor that sits in a safe neighborhood. East of Cicero Avenue, the entire area from Lawrence Avenue (4800 north) all the way south to the Cook/Will County border is all endless ghetto. And that includes the Chicago Loop, Grant Park, Navy Pier, the Museum campus, everything. Within that area, whatever is not covered by a street gang is covered by the highly lethal Flash Mobs. And the Flash mobs are way more dangerous than many of Chicago's gangs, including the Latin Kings, and especially as when the flash mobs attack, they attack in groups, and they attack like a pack of wolves! And in fact, that same ghetto even extends nonstop south and east right through Gary, Indiana! And there is even another ghetto west of there that covers the suburbs of Maywood, Bellwood, Melrose Park, and Stone Park.

And for anyone thinking of complaining about the $15 minimum food purchase policy at the Tavern on LaGrange, that $15 minimum is Nothing compared to $1,500+ in repairs to your vandalized car (smashed out windows, flat tires, graffiti scratched into the paint/windows, bullet holes, and such), and especially $15,000+(sometimes even as much as $50,000+) in emergency room/ambulance fees.

Like the TaBu club in Stickney, the Tavern on LaGrange is not a good place for singles, either, especially for single guys. Illinois is a heavily anti social, highly feminist state, basically a vast social desert. Single guys, if you are reading this, Illinois women WILL complain and get you kicked right out of the club for asking them to dance with you.

Therefore, for all you single guys out there, if your intentions are to dance with ladies, including at Tavern on LaGrange, it is heavily recommended that you stand or sit down on, or close to, the edge of the dance floor, and wait for a woman (or a group of women) to ask and/or invite you to dance with her. I do also have to tell you single guys, depending on the size and type of crowd that occupies the dance floor at any given time, it can potentially be as long as a couple of hours, maybe more, until you get asked and/or invited to dance with someone. The "guy asking the woman to dance" simply does not and will not fly at all in Illinois, due to Illinois being a harsh and dry social desert, and is in fact even about guaranteed to get the guy booted right out of the club.
