MMMMMMMMMMM Read the story offered on the website. She let three guys she didn't know in her dorm. Shame on the guys, but shame on her as well! Makes you wonder... What her intentions were?

This is the second assualt reported so far this year. Wake up girls.... this school is not named Ferry, it's Ferris. These guys go to school for more than just an education, and if you let them, they will.

And

Well the story doesn't say she let them in, they could have forced their way in. Story is pretty vage at this point.

This may sound weird, but I really hope this did happen and this isn't another girl calling WOLF.

Ferris is an awesome university, but it is just like any other college in America. Stuff like this does and can happen. She's only a freshman, it's around 2 AM and she lets 3 guys into her room. I don't want to past judgement here, but certainly she didn't think they were just coming in for coffee, plus unless I'm misunderstanding she didn't even know these guys. I hope she's okay and I hope this is a wake up call for all students on campus.

See below they entered the room with her! This is from the Ferris website. Like Bean said "no means no"

University Police were notified by a female student that she had been sexually assaulted in her residence hall room by subjects not known to her. The freshman student reported being met at an outside door by three male subjects. She advises they engaged her in conversation and walked with her to her room where they entered with her. Further advising that once inside a sexual assault occurred. The time of the incident was shortly after 2 a.m. The victim was cared for by Ferris counseling personnel and medical professionals at Mecosta County Medical Center. Ferris housing authorities joined University Police to give notice to the campus community that the assault took place and the persons of interest were still being sought. The investigation is on-going.

ahhh, see even channel 8's website states the guys engaged her in conversation outside and followed her to her dorm. Channel 13 once again is very vague with details, and I failed to go to Ferris' web site. And I totally agree, NO means NO!

Nice-imagine if this was your daughter?? Would you question her intentions then? She's a college freshman, and YOUNG. It's early in the school year, she was probably interested in getting to know people. I don't know about you, but when I went to college and you met other college students you definately didn't think they were engaging you in conversation so they could assault you. Maybe they asked for help, maybe they had a class together...you don't know this girl, those guys or their situation. So before you start to question intentions, maybe you should look back on some of the "innocent" things you have done in the past that could have turned ugly as quickly as this situation did.

And I agree with the above poster, I pray that this isn't another young girl screaming wolf (but I guess it's sad that we even have to question that, huh?).

They could have entered her room without her consent, as well. She may have been trying to get to her room and they just kept following her and when she opened the door, they just went on in.

Schools are weapon free zones.
Thats why criminals attack there.
All these brilliant liberals have taken aways your rights to defend yourself and your families.
But like everything else, liberals know whats best for you and they will make sure you know it.

Agree 100%!

The liberals are responsible for removing any mention of God in our schools.
There is no need to wonder why out youth have gone astray.
And like your comment about weapons, the Liberals took God from our Schools because they says it's best for our country.
And now they want to take God from our entire country.
No wonder our poor kids have such an awful world to grow up in.
this poor woman never stood a chance against 3 men and she had no way to defend herself.
I pray she recovers and the looser rapists spend 100 years in a jail cell.

I have a stepdaughter in college. You are right. She thinks everyone is good "remember when you were that innocent" I just get so annoyed with kids attacking kids. You expect this generation to be more carefull considering they're raised during this crazy time!

Then again what is up with all the girls crying wolf?

They put all these freshman through an orientation every fall. Maybe this kind of thing should be on that agenda as well.

Even little old BR isn't a great place for any 18 y/o girl to be out alone at 2am.

Wake up people. The naive ones are the parents. If she hadn't called the police, and instead called campus security, Ferris would have kept it hush hush. These things DO happen. She didn't expect to get raped I'm sure. She also didn't listen to the school. She wasn't naive, she was stupid. Oh.. and they ought to castrate those guys when they DO catch them!

what is innocent about letting men (three of them) into your dorm at 2am? that's not innocent that's just stupid. you said so yourself that the school year just started and she wanted to meet people, meeting three men at 2am is a little stupid, even if she had class withe thses guys (as you suggested) she just met them when school started.......

As I said, she's young and innocent. I know when I was a freshman in college in Grand Rapids-about 7 years ago, I would have never thought I would be in an unsafe situation with other students, whether they were male or female, especially if there was 3 of them in a group. Granted she should have used her head, but what if they asked to use her phone? Or for notes to a class? Also remember that while in college 2 am isn't that late.

From the sounds of it they have one of the guys in custody-so the likelihood that this girl is crying wolf seems pretty low.

I understand we live in crazy times, but throughout the whole recruitment phase and even the first semester many freshman are led to believe that their campus is one of the safest places they can be. I agree with the above poster that said a few more steps need to be taken during orientation to help educate these young students even more.

Leave it to channel 8 to have a half way decent update. Here it is right off of their website-it appears as though the girl did NOT let the 3 men into her room, only into the CO-ED residence hall, which is perfectly understandable.

BIG RAPIDS - Police are searching for three men who allegedly sexually assaulted a freshman in her dorm room at Ferris State University.

The attack allegedly happened inside Merril Hall, a co-ed residence on campus. The student, 18, told police she was coming back to her room around 2 a.m. when three men approached her outside the building.

She let the men inside, and they followed her to her first floor dorm room where, she said, she was sexually assaulted.

Campus police posted the incident on its website and posted fliers around campus alerting students to what happened. Students told 24 Hour News 8 they're re-thinking steps toward safety.

"If you're going in and you see someone walking in, you hold the door, just as a courtesy," said freshman Danielle Van Dyke. "I don't think I'll do that anymore if I don't know them."
