I had to smile at the 1980 basketball championship reference! Recognizing it was meant as a joke, it still doesn't say much for R.C. if after 30 years you are still clinging to that bit of Class C glory as the best thing to ever happen in the town ....isn't it time to "move on" as you say?
Kind of reminds me of those folks who can't wait for football season each Fall and talk about the Lions as though they're on the verge of a championship when, in fact, they haven't won anything since 1956 and are not likely to anytime in the near future!! There's a limit to loyalty.

Michigan Works on Church St. in Reed City is the only place I know of that takes apps for Yoplait. Good luck.

Did anyone hear about a 30 year reunion for the State Championship basketball team; with high school girl lover Jerry Ernst and inept coach Rich Reeves in attendance? I heard that Timo, the foreign exchange student from Finland, even attended. I never heard a single thing about this. Was Chuck Homo in charge of this reunion too? Or was it Dan "the worst basketball player on earth" Grein? Or perhaps, Scott "I'm an azzhole" Fredrick?

i see my previous post has been erased by some hater. I have no problem with yoplait. I worked there for two years after being transfered from texas after a plant closing. All my problems there were of my own making, as most of us are if we are honest. That is the cleanest facility I have ever seen. i have worked in mills and all types of industry and that is the cleanest place I have ever seen.I wasn't cut out for small town life and started drinking too much and had to resign along with legal problems I got into because of it. i no longet drink and have been sober for 18 years and it is amazing how much fewer problems i have at work and otherwise. anyone who says that place in dirty is a liar and just mad cuz they got fired! probably cuz they weren't worth a shit at their job. or spent too much time at the buck board. hi djuna. hope you read this and are doing great. you are a wonderful girl. sorry about the mess back then... bye y'all

Yes indeed...so much to reflect on with pride....or is it embarassment? disgust? contempt? that I was forced to be a part of such a charade upheld by our fine, upstanding school mentors and teachers...and these coaches were invited back to be glorified yet again???

my mom has always worked at yoplait since i can ever remember. Yoplait doesn't try to hide anything, they even have Family tours of the plant on family fun days during the summer. So if you have never been in yoplait, i wouldn't sit here and but your two sense in. Yoplait supplies a lot of jobs around here and without yoplait i believe reed city would be a ghost town.

I worked at Yoplait a number of years ago in Reed City and in Carson California. In addtion I've worked for many milk, cheese, ice cream and yogurt companies. Yoplait is a live culture product which requires higher attention to sanitation than most other food products. If quality wasn't maintained, the product would not even make it to the market before the container would swell to the point of explosion. My observations have been that Yoplait is a much cleaner operation than other places I have worked. The cost to make yogurt in a plant the 100% free of all contaminates would take the product off the market. So the key is to focus sanitation on any parts of the process that will come in cotact with product. If you believe Yoplait Reed City is so bad that you won't eat there product, you should tour a large meat packing facility, you would never eat meat again.

Thanks Steve for showing support for Yoplait. I'm so glad to hear your doing well. It sounds like you have turned your life around. A guy at work told me to check this out. I'm still at Yoplait. Twenty years in November. I could kiss the floor everyday I walk into the plant. I am very thankful that I have been able to support myself and my kids through my employment there with no help. I work there and yes I eat the Yogurt. It is a very clean plant. I would also like to say hi to Renee. My guess is you are the disgruntled employee. Move on with your life and find something positive.

Sophie be honest. You were on your way out. You have how many points. Meaning when you don't show up for work someone has to work 12 hours to take your place. If you didn't get fired for all the days you took off you were well on your way to getting fired for all the nasty e-mails you sent plant wide. Attitude is everything. You had a very bad attitude. Yoplait is a great place to work. Thankful everyday for my job. And I eat the yogurt. We make a great product. Reed City is lucky to have such a place.

You must be so full of hate that you are completely blind. If you took a closer look at the post you are referring to, you would have noticed that the date says oct. 13, 2009. The sophie you are referring to did not even get hired until 2010 you idiot. and she wasn't summer help. Yoplait is a good place work, there product is safe and sanitary. work ethics and financial respect to wage employess is a whole different story.

the problem with business today is they don't have to! there are so many people wanting jobs out there that they don't have to give employees any type of benefits or treat them descent. it's the new world of crappy benefits, no profit sharing, and poor work ethics. but companies that are flourishing shouldn't be abusing the down turned economy. Yoplait for example only gives a 10 minute lunch. ha ha try to eat something in 10 minutes (yes you must chew)salary employees take long walks across town for their lunch-about an hour maybe more. there insurance, medical, dental, vision is a joke more like a discount card. Reed city plant alone makes millions and millions in profit every year and the wage employees profit share out of that, maybe $1,000, pathetic! This is the norm across the board. where is the appreciation or the respect. Or doing there part to help turn around a downed economy. everything they take away cost the employees, hence less money being spent on market items, which means less items, which means less workers making items. everything is connected and big business needs to step up and show how much they want to help turn this economy around and they do appreciate and respect their employees. this whole (you should be happy you have a job crap needs to stop),as american citizens me need to stick together and make big business be held accountable to the people making them millions so we can ALL have a job. They are still making profits, they are just stripping more away from the workers to make them huge profits. we are all suffering from this and it will only get worse unless we demand a change. your choice after all i'm not the one without a job.

Years ago Yoplait was the best place to work in the rc area, when gas and milk and day care were affordable. The problem is, the price of everything went up, but yoplait's benefits didn't. They are making money according to today's economy but still expecting the employees to live according to the economy 10 years ago. This lack of appreciation for the employees causes a decline in moral which effects the quality of the product.

Now that Yoplait wants to fire 49 people that were hired with the $166,000.00 from the MEDC, the $500,000.00 from the Community Block Grant, and the 12 year $5 Million tax abatement ( all of which were granted in 2009 I believe), will they have to pay that money back? What promises, if any, did they make to us (the tax payers where this money came from) for the duration of employment for those 49 people that are now losing their jobs after only working 2 1/2 years? Does the public just forget it? That's a lot of money to just give away without the promised pay back.

I work at Yoplait right and I can tell you first hand that they treat everyone like criminals. I hate it there but I need the job. They are't picking up and moving anywhere despite the rumors around town. It would cost them many millions of dollars to do that. The morale there is the worst I've ever seen and the bosses just don't care, they are too busy trying to find other jobs with General Mills to lead the plant like they should. The whole HR Dept. is a joke. We haven't had a real plant manager since Dave Towner left. We are the people who really do all the work there not the salary pukes but they get all the praise.

Well employee vs. management problems are there in any factory. But I would like to address the not moving anywhere statement. Thanks to the governor Yoplait isn't bound by any contract so lets get that off the table. Next lets talk about muller yogurt that I see must have their line up and running as I seen the first commercial today, I also would like to point out that it is a Pepsi owned company that has the financial backing to squash Yoplait and will. So now we have major pressure on top of the little pressure caused by chobani that was responsable for such a decline in business that it forced a 49 person layoff. Now add in the pressure of the cost of shipping in and out of central michigan. The fact that Yoplait already owns factories centralized in the U.S. that ease cost of shipping in and out and have railroads to use( dig ) and the truth is they could have that whole operation moved out in less than two weeks and wouldn't come close to costing millions as business would already be so slow by then that the other factories could absorb the production and cover the move. So yes a move is and will always be on the table, only an idiot would think big business has some kind of community chain restricting their ability to grow.

Be thankful to have a steady job. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Some people create as much hateful or spiteful drama in their lives. They need to target others with negativity in order to feel good about themselves. Unfortunately, some people will never be happy.
