If you do not work at the local yogurt factory that runs the town, you don't matter. Wait till they decide to move to Mexico, who will matter in "Gost Town"?

Is this why people are asking for signatures on recall papers for some board members?

Look into the way the people of our schools were taken care of and how many more jobs it has brought into this town! It is helping Reed City schools and the people here! Hell you cannot find a job in this town, for years! Now there are openings for MORE people to work here! Not enough good media was put forth for this effort, only bad. Look into it!

I think the reason that the papers are going around to collect signatures is to recall board members that voted to give westhoff a raise after cutting jobs to privitization in order to save more money. This is what I was told anways.

reed city schools board of ed. should have put on their thinking caps instead of having yheir heads up their butts . they should have started with westhoff and worked from the top down instead of cutting the people who do the work. instead of giving the adminstrators raises westhoff is ajoke. i certainly will support a recall. where was the teacher support for these people

Westoff is making more than our city manager and he runs the whole city.. I think there is something wrong with that. And Yes Mr. Westoff the public can know how much you make due to freedom of information to the public. So if you want to know how much he makes ask one of the recall circulators they have a copy of his 2008 contract...its unreal the money he makes and its unreal how much the adminstrators make.

His contract is also for 5 years instead of a normal 3 yr. Why do we even have superindents? I think we ought to get rid of that position completely. All he does his sign his name to stuff, the principals of the schools and the board do everything and make the decisions. I think it is sad to cut those people's jobs, especially since the school can 'afford' to pay him so much. Its our kids that really suffer.

Amen, too many Chiefs making too much money !! Get rid of the Chiefs and let the school board be the Chief! If the workers can't do their job the school board will decide that and who they will hire to replace them. RECALL The fat guys and let's take our town back to it's home town family origin! If it is not too late !

Now, I've got to tell you about the Reed City recall, we had two ladies drop by to ask us to sign a recall petition. First of all they didn't understand, The Superintent didn't get a 10% raise. If he was terminated before his contract was up He would receive 110 % of his wages as a severence pay. That is normal for somone in business. as for the privation of services. The company who gets the contract will usually hire the laid off personnel first then fill in with others. Then the district doesn't pay for insuance cost. For a 8 hour employee with a family it the cost is about $1450. amonth. at 6 hours a employee pays $200 of that $1450. I know, I'm a retired school employee. when my husband was working. we paid $650 for our health insuance. If I had worked 6 hours a day I could have gotten the school insurance and saved $400. amonth. Now being retired. I pay $4.00 for dental and vision. On my husband insurance we pay $65. amonth for just dental. I don't know how many employees Reed City school have but for every 100. it come to $145000. for 1 month insurance. times that by 10 months and you have about $1450000.00 That's alot of money.

He did get a 10 percent raise and a 5 yr contract and normally they get 3yrs. Not all the workers got benefits...the last few years that haven't been giving it to the new employees. They also have to pay for them. I also heard from a school employee that Westoff's secretary makes 75,000 per year, does anyone know if that is true? He makes 6 figures and does very little. Schools should get rid of the superindendents completely, along with the building that they use, and all their staff. THAT is how they can save the money. These superdentends have NO business experience. They are former teachers. If they are going to have superintendents they should AT LEAST hire a business man to do it.
