Still at it? Have you not been watching this forum? The last thing posted on here was on the 5th.

Only reason I saw your response so fast is I happen to be doing computer work into the wee hours of the morning :(

Hi Lucy44,
Hey stay warm today. Brrrr it's awful out there. you can't sleep either? You said working on the computer in the wee hours. Last night I was up at 0300 until 0600 then layed back down.
Do you have to get out in the cold today? If so take care.

Hi nick -

Actually, I did not work last night, but, I have to brave the roads and head into work this evening. Hopefully the roads are all plowed by then, because it's a 25 mile drive to work.

Well, hopefully I will get something full time a little closer to home - that, or head out to warmer climates once the kids are out of school. Getting kind of tired of these Michigan winters.

Well, first of all, pedestrians DO have the right of way, even if the big red hand is saying stop. That has always been the law. Second of all, Lucy, you knew fully well coming on a website and bitching about crosswalks and how stupid FSU students are, would get some negative feedback. You act like you know everything, and you are wasting your time.

If you are going to bitch so much about this, do something more productive than sitting at your computer fighting with people through blog posts. Grow up.

Feel better now Julia? Did I say I was looking for people to give negative feedback? And the only ones that ARE giving negative feedback seem to be the students themselves.

Yes, I am fully aware that pedestrians always have the right of way. Does that give them the right to be stupid enough to expect that they can dart out into traffic on icy roads and think that a vehicle is able to stop on a dime? Sorry, my life is more valuable than that. And at least MY mother taught me to look both ways before crossing.

Oh, and FYI Julia - this IS a public forum, you don't like what you read, no one is forcing you to post. "grow up" - typical juvenile response.

Hey Lucy...don't feel bad, I can attest to what you're saying. As a (now former) EMT in this county I can't tell you the number of car/pedestrian accidents we had relative to Ferris, no matter the time of day or night, even ON campus. Apparently all of these kids are immortal, because they sure do act like it...that is, until they're in the back of my rig on the way to the ER for the injuries they sustained for their impatience.

Thank you Tanya - people like you make me feel better when I hear from people like Julia. I did have to laugh when someone said if it were not for Ferris, I would not have a job. Well, the job that I do services a three county area, and FSU or not, there will always be a need for my line of work.

Agreed, and to add to your statement, if it weren't for FSU, MY job would've been a LOT easier...especially around exam times when all the girls suddenly needed to go to the ER for abdominal pain (ie: menstrual cramps!)!! Not to mention all of the drunks and drug users we had to carry down the stairs of the dorms, the fights at the frat houses....gee, and I wonder how I herniated every lumbar disc in my back and ended up permanently disabled? Glad I busted my butt for these kids who "support" this county. Hey, if that's the case, maybe Ferris should pay for my back surgery...since work comp. still hasn't antied up in almost 3 years!!!(grrr..that's another post entirely, but can't discuss it till the case is settled, and believe me, once it is...my story WILL go to press...LOTS more to it than meets the eye *wink*).

Saw ya replied on the 8 mile/Northland one too...and FYI, there WAS a memorial cross there but I can't say for sure if it's there now as I moved last July up to Big Rapids when the ex and I split. But I know exactly what you mean about that light...not a good situation, and when you factor in the Amish, God love them, they're wonderful, but they don't move off the road. I'll never forget baby Maddie that we couldn't save..she died in flight to GR...6 weeks old, buggy hit by..........an intoxicated (drug) man in a very rural area south of the area of the other discussion.

I miss my job, don't get me wrong...but I'm tired of "chitlins" thinking they know everything (like we used to as kids) when the reality is they know nothing (again, like we did...). You'd think they'd #1 obey jaywalking laws, and #2 learn from and respect their elders, but in my experience, about 70% of them don't because they're just here to party anyway...and I can say this because I also lived in Mt Pleasant for a number of years and while the CMU students had their own issues as well...it was night and day to Ferris.

Drive safe tomorrow...spring break is coming soon!!! ;o)
