Health Protection Agency in UK is now waking up and called for GPs to be involved in screening patients with recurrent abscesses or necrotising tissue for community acquired MRSA.
Community acquired MRSA is a growing problem in the UK, especially the ones that carry the tissue necrotising toxin Panton-Valentine leukocidin. Testing for this is complicated and takes time. News papers in UK are still talking about C Diff & dirty hospitals.
In a GP survey organized by medical magazine Pulse, 62.1 per cent of respondents said they had not received any information on what to do in a suspected case of MRSA. Those who had received information got this from a range of sources, such as local microbiologists, and often only after they requested it.
When asked to rate their knowledge of MRSA, just 21.3 per cent of GPs said ‘good'. A further 2.4 per cent rated their knowledge ‘excellent', 59.2 per cent ‘fair' and 17.2 per cent ‘poor'. The survey also showed that 52 per cent of respondents backed GPs testing patients for community acquired MRSA and 85.2 per cent believed controlling antibiotic prescribing would help tackle the super bug. Some senior nurses in UK think MRSA is a virus. I met a senior consultant of HPA in a medical meeting and when I asked her how the HPA is preparing for this pandemic, she did not think there was a problem with CA-MRSA in UK.
NHS in UK has been poorly informed and has not considered this as a major threat and still going ahead with their project "The Polyclinic". Staffed with 50 trained and untrained doctors, these polyclinics are likely to be the breading ground and increase the spread of CA-MRSA in the community and be a major threat to the staff.
As a doctor, knowing more about this infection, I feel very nervous; clean the table with disinfectants when I see some patients showing signs of skin infections that don't respond to routine antibiotics. It will be interesting to see how the other doctors will respond when they start hearing some of them get infected "Occupational Health Hazard". Unlike HIV, this bacteria spreads by contact and the result of invasive type is lethal.

I have been septic with MRSA five times in the lst four years. I too have lost half of my foot. This last year I spent many weeks in the hospital and have had somewhere around 160 hyperbaric oxygen treatments. I have been in a wheel chair for over one year and hope to be able to walk soon. I could not believe how a small blister could paralyze me. They tell me I am a walking miracle.

Our family was viciously attacked by flesh eating MRSA. Antibiotics failed to help us.
We prayed and researched until we found something that would help us. We found a potent natural antibiotic called Allimed and we were able to pull ourselves out of this crisis. We have not had any signs of MRSA for 2 yrs. and since our recovery we have been able to help many others achieve the same results. Here are some research files for you. God bless, Cathy Cathy@optimalhealthusa.com This is a good file to print out to run by your doctor: http://www.allimed.us/pdf/article/Cutler%5B6%...
