What do ya think of the new principal? I think that he may be what the school needs. I don't believe he's all into who's who. It was funny last year that my daughter would get in trouble for wearing a short skirt with leggins and then Abby Hill will just wear the plain short skirt. What's up with that?

I thinks he's making alot of changes for the better. It's about time that we have a principal that isn't catering to teacher's kids. I had something similiar happen to my daughter last year. She wore flip flops to shcool (because everyone else was and getting by with it), well her teacher sent a note home saying that the next time this happened that she would have to be sent home to change shoes. Well, come to find out, the very same day one of the teacher's kids (which was in my daughter's class) had worn flip flops the very same day. Nothing was said to this teacher's child or the teacher and this particular child continued to wear flip flops throughout the rest of the school year. Another thing that i have a problem with is that if they have to be so strick on the length of shorts, skirts, dresses, ect., then cheerleaders shouldn't be allowed to wear skirts up to their butts. The cheerleader's uniforms should have to adhere to the school dress code just as the clothes that the children wear to class mon-fri. |

I like the new principal even though I've only met him twice. He seems like a fair man. I do have a problem with the way some of the teachers children were catered to last year as well. Everytime I had to go up there I saw the teachers kids wearing inappropriate clothes. Shorts half way up their legs and shirts cut so low you could practically see their belly button. However, when one of the "regular" kids wore those clothes, they were sent to the office. What's up with that?

Oh yes, and I heard a rumor that there are numerous students crossing district and parish lines being allowed to enroll at Castor High (again). I thought this issue was cleared up years ago.
Anybody know anything about this? |

This is for the person that believes that children who don't live in Castor should attend the school. I have children that I drive to school everyday. When my children went to Ringgold, my daughter got picked on nearly everyday by a bunch of black girls and the day they dunked her sweater into a toilet full of shit and the principal wouldn't do anything about it was the last day my kids went there. I was always in the office and it seemed to me that he was scared to dicipline the black kids. My son also was grabbed by the arm by a teacher hard enough that it put a bruise on him just because he told a black girl to move her hand because she was blocking him from going out the room. He according to the teacher was not supposed to talk. I tried to get them into Castor legally but I couldn't. My kids have been going there for 5 years and everyone knows that we live in Ringgold but they don't care. If my kids had to go to Ringgold, they wouldn't go to school, and I believe that kids shouldn't be home schooled because they miss out on the sports, clubs, etc. I personally don't see where it is a problem for my kids to go to school there or anyone else's kids. It's not like we are stealing anything.

I have no dog in this fight, as my children are grown. However, it is ILLEGAL to cross district or parish lines to attend school. I truly feel for you and I would not have let my children attend Ringgold either. But just be aware that Castor is Castor and sooner or later someone will make a stink about this and you will be forced to withdraw your children or move into the district. This happened back in the 1990s. One of the main reasons that this is illegal is that school budgets are set for their legal enrollment of students in their districts, not from other districts or parishes. Out-of-district students cause classroom overcrowding, among other financial and logistical problems. Not students personally, just the situation. |

1 If you are referring to my post, are you one of the old clique? |

My son has just recently started attending CHS. At his last school every other day I got a phone call about him being jumped on or threatened by blacks but the school never did anything about it, but when my son started fighting back he was the one that always got blamed, not them. The last straw was when one of his friends was jumped on in P.E. and had the bones in his face broken by several black males and when the whites tried to tell authorities what happened they were threatened. So I moved him to CHS. I dont think any parent or child should have to worry about safety at school. No we dont live in castor but im not about to send him to a school were i have to worry about him every day. So you can say that its wrong but look at the situation from my prospective.

Budroix, I sympathize with you but I refer to you my post above. Castor IS Castor and the natives are sooner or later going to raise strong objections to this and the school board will listen and act against the across-the-line enrollments because they have to by law. My advice is to move into the Castor district by whatever means possible or consider homeschooling or private school. It bears repeating that this entire scenario went down in the 1990s and many people were forced to move to the Castor district or withdraw their children from the school. In fact (and it is well known in Castor, just ask around), many people rented houses in the district and lived there during the week just so their children could attend the school. This was deemed legal by the school board at that time. |

Thank you for the advice. I left out the fact that we do own a house and land in Castor, we just don't live in it. So if push comes to shove we have that alternative to fall back on.

And to get back to the initial topic, I have been impressed with the new principal. He seems like a very fair man who is interested in seeing that our children get the best available education. He stands behind his staff and teachers and has been wonderful with the students.

Who is the new principal? Anybody got a name?

They call him Dr. Guin. |

Did your son go to Ringgold? If so, I believe that the Principal there is scared of the black people so they don't try to do anything to diciple the kids. One thing I can say about Castor is that Tammy Hill will dicipline the kids. I just hope now that ALL the kids will get diciplined if they need it and not just the ones that aren't in the click. I heard that we could go and get them into Castor legally through the court but I'm not sure if this is true. I went to Ringgold and I know how bad the school was 15 years ago. I can't even imagine how it is in high school today. When I was there, they announced that the police were there with the k-9 and there were people in my class running to the bathroom, I guess to flush down the drugs. And on a separate occasion there was a fight between 2 black males in the hallway during class time and one pulled out a gun and the teacher of the class I was in got the gun and hid it. I myself even carried a gun to school for my own protection because my boyfriend and I got jumped while we were walking down the road to our house by a black boy who later killed a boy over a video game. Anyway he was always talking about how my boyfriend didn't fight back. How could he? It was 2 of us and about 5 or 6 of them. I was scared of what this boy might do to me at school so my boyfriend bought me a small pistol to carry in my purse. Thankfully, I never was caught with it. |

As for the topic of crossing lines to go to school in castor. I believe that this is only going to cause trouble. Not only is the school overcrowded, but these children are taking away awards and potential scholarship money from our CASTOR children. And you people can talk about DR. Guin all you want but as long as his grandchildren are being allowed to cross the lines to come to Castor, nothing will be done.

2 Sorry to bust your bubble, but TH is the self-proclaimed queen of the clique. You absolutely CANNOT depend on her to administer discipline fairly. Been there done that and I am no "it's the teacher's fault whiner." Just ask around and see how TH was placed in her current position. It had to do with a lawsuit regarding abuse of a student. |

1 Just to qualify my remarks, TH was given this position to get her out of the classrooms.(It's called the Peter Principle, promoting incompetency). Of course, all of this MOO. |
