I read what people post on here, often times not commenting but I have noticed the increased discomfort with the gun control frenzy.

Like others have said here, Bush and the republicans, after 911, enacted the Patriot Act which stripped away many freedoms in the name of national security. We traded them away to be "safe" from foreign terrorists.

Now its Obama and the democrats who want to limit or remove our right to bear arms for the same reason, so we can be safe except this time from ourselves.
What makes this much worse this time is we are trading away the very thing that ultimately ensures our safety.

Thomas Jefferson said in a visionary statement:
"The people will not understand the importance of the Second Amendment until it is too late."

My Friend...We lost our freedoms long before Bush or Obama! Think about it. Ride down the road on a motorcycle without a helment on and see what happens! Get pulled over or let the cops see you driving without your seatbelt on and see what happens. get pulled over while driving without the Govt. forced auto insurance and see what happens. The Govt is penalizing you for an automobile wreck you may never have?

Now think about it. The same people who take an oath to protect, serve and uphold the constitution will be the same ones who will jump at the chance to deny your freedoms. They will simply say that they are just doing thier jobs!

Although I agree with you and Ole Jefferson for the most part...Wasn`t he the same guy who proclaimed That "All Men Were Created Equal" while holding ownership papers on a few dozen slaves and fathering children with several of them?

The availibility of fire arms is not the problem. The availibility of Nut-Case`s is the problem.

Very wise statement indeed! Both want to completete control out minds to their way of thinking. So every American needs to stay well armed. If the government, whether dem or repub will know that we 150 million well-armed citizen's can defeat their Marine Corp and Special forces. If they want to try, BRING IT ON, 3 million Army and marines. WE will fight you till we destroy you!

I agree with you on the helmet and seatbelt laws but auto insurance is required because most couldn't afford to repair or replace my car if they damaged it and it was their fault.
I would then have to sue them and take whatever little they had.
As for President Jefferson, just because he owned slaves should not discount any on his political thoughts or ideas. It is wrong to judge people of history by the standards we live today.
No American alive today was ever enslaved yet to hear some of the prominate blowhards speak you'd think the scars from the beatings were on their backs. That does a great injustice to the memory of those actually enslaved in America.
The only thing motivating those who stomp their feet about American slavery today is greed and that to me is profiting from someone else's burden, no different than the slave owners of yesterday.
Sooo. You work for an insurance company and believe that somehow old horse-sh!t is different than new, more modern horse-sh!t. You say it is unfair to judge people of history and what they may have said by the standards we live today. That sounds like the same garbage the Pro Gun Control Advocates are spewing. They would have you believe that the right to keep and bear arms meant something different back then because our country and our standard of living has changed. What a CROCK! A lie 300 years ago is a lie by our standards today. The same for the truth. It remains the truth no matter how you twist and spin it.

Gun control ain't going to happen. There are too many folks who own them and to try and take them away would result in a Civil war much worse then the first one.

Yes. That Gun Control thing is working really well in Afghanistan isnt it! Just think what would happen here.

Can you imagine being the Judge who would have to sentence the offender, or the prosecutor who would bring the charges to trial, or how about the Cop on the street who would now be on the front line as far as enforcing this law would go? Not Me Brother!

Public opinion of law enforcement is already on about the same level as congress so just think what it would be like the day after this was passed!
