ObamaCare Tax Increases Are Double Original Estimate

Mar 13, 2013 | Posted by: Jim R Pickens | Full story: www.economicpolicyjournal.com

The Joint Committee on Taxation recently released a 96 page report on the tax provisions associated with Affordable Care Act. The report describes the 21 tax increases included in Obamacare, totaling $1.058 trillion – a steep increase from initial assessment, according to the Tax Prof Blog. The summer 2012 estimate is nearly twice the $569 billion estimate produced at the time of the passage of the law in March 2010.

And the costs keep skyrocketing past the limits agreed to to pass this monstrosity. The democrats keep the pedal to the floor with deficit spending.

I was reading an article last night that to finance the “Prior Conditions” part of Obamacare an additional 2014 charge for each insured will be $62.00 per week. Now it was not clear if that was based on policy or each person?
$62.00 a week is $3,224.00 annually
How many working people can afford that additional TAX? It was implied that employers might cover part of the tax? Will yours? How many more people will be tumbling out of the middle class?
What I cannot understand is this thing isn't even in effect yet, my sister works in the ER in Montgomery and said in the last few years they have doubled in the number of people using the ER as a sick call, I thought this is what all the health care reform was going to end? All I hear is its getting worse than it was before.
I know my healthcare insurance has almost doubled since Obamacare was passed, what gives?

David 523 questioned if employers might pay part of the tax. Where will the employer get the funds, hold back on giving employees raises and pass the cost on to the customers that buy his goods or services. Therefore costing more empolyees raises down the line. Remember that business owners will make their profit one way or the other. Most Obama supporters are not smart enough to realise that they will pay one way or the other. Goodbye middle class.....
I personally know business owners that plan to lay some employees off rather than pay the additional cost. More mechanization and less human labor.

So ObamaCare is going to cost twice as much and services provided will be much less.
Special groups like Unions can keep their Cadillac health care plans while "We the People" get much less that will cost twice as much.
Another tax out of our checks so we can get less that will cost twice as much.

ObamaWorld, reality bites.

You can take that same reasoning to the “Minimum Raise Increase” or the Union Pay. The increase in monies provided to employees will be offset by increase in cost of products and/or fewer employees. It must be remembered that if a business does not make money, then the business goes out of business. A direction we will likely see more of is mechanization then you curtail your workforce back to mechanics and comparatively, Very Few Employees. Truly an application of be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Liberals will say just tax the companies and redistribute the wealth. Answer to that is relocate the business outside of America. End result, America Collapses.
How about CEO's and top company hogs not doubling their salaries while allowing minumum wage workers to do all their hard work for them. Raising the minumum wage so far has'nt had all the negative propaganda that it was suppose to create. Now you go out and work minumum wage and see how it feels. No these high blood pressure corporate pigs will have to pay and be content with modest income raises. Walmart had record profits last year and so did Mcdonalds. I was told that minumum wage increase would damn near put them all out of business, DID'NT HAPPEN!

The problem with minimum wage is just that, the government tell what the minimum is you can pay someone.
I know trades people who haven't gotten raises in years yet the bottom keeps creeping up to meet them.
When you have a 30 year auto mechanic or plumber making $20.00 an hour and the minimum wage raised to 9-10 dollars for entry level workers then you got a problem.
The bottom is coming up to meet skilled workers every year because they are only raising the bottom up, no one else is getting raises, especially in this economy.
The govt is trying to engineer our society and they are screwing up magnificently!

The standard of living that the middle class of the 70's enjoyed could be accomplished with one parent working ...not today! The wages of minimum earners is about the same as they were in the early 1980's, taking in account for inflation.
I made $5.25 hour working in the emergency medical field ...a very hands on skilled career that people's lives depended on! Here in 2013, the wages for most jobs available start at $7.35 WTF!! 30 odd years later and that's all multi million dollar companies are allowed to pay at the minimum! C'mon people, CEO 's are very over paid for what they do.
$ 20 million a year salary ...FOR WHAT!? Real jobs that help others are the lowest paying jobs. That's. BS. The military rank n file are getting screwed, Fast food managers are getting screwed making $10 an hour! WTF?

The biggest scandel ever started in the 1980's A few big top manangers who completly wiped out middle management and parked their overpaid fat azzes on top of major companies and allowing the 90% minumun wage earners at the bottom to do all the work while they sit in their corporate tables and act important, raise their salaries bigtime everyyear, do alot of mid-afternoon golfing, while their bellies get bigger and bigger and their ego's get even bigger. A major depression would be a GOOD thing. The wealthy would stand behind you and have to brush shoulders with you standing in a government soup line. Now many will take the quick way out and jump out of high story windows or blow their greedy little brains out. It's coming folks and I'm not worried at all. I have had to humble myself on ocassion and get help and would enjoy conversation with those I would be standing in front or back of in a government soup and water line.See you all there soon! Come on down Green Island hills you won't catch anything from us, Hell you might even learn a few things!

You seem to think the additional cost incurred by a minimum wage increase will be eaten by the company/business. If that were true, every business in America would be out of business - the cost of employees would be prohibitive. A minimum wage increase, for a large business means a pay increase for everyone. You might want to take a class in “Compensation” to better understand how pay works. The people who loose are all the people who buy products and services (That is defined as EVERYONE.) Cost of products will have an increase in cost, to cover any minimum wage increase before it takes place, especially the most profitable items.(Example: Fountain Drinks – Cost to business, pennies each - Your cost $1.00 to $8.00 or more and almost entirely profit.) For EVERYONE an increase in minimum wage is a bad thing and is deceptive. Some people think they are getting more money to buy more stuff when in truth the buying power of money is dropping and actually can buy less, overall.
You need to take a class in journalism. The Wall Street journal reported record profits last year for McDonalds, Walmart, etc. You see raising the minumum wage did'nt hurt them at all it gave all those who are doing the toughest work a little higher standard, or does that offend you to see your fellowman do a little better?

Your definition of “biggest scandal ever” is lacking in understanding, especially when looking at the Big Picture. The realignment of assets and decreasing Middle Management is a Common practice. What you failed to address is this practice occurs at ALL Levels. I suspect you may not be aware of the decimation of some occupations in America by the use of foreign labor - That I’d consider a far larger “scandal” than a business realigning assets. When considering a job, if unskilled and with a bit of training, anyone can do the job, should it not be in the minimum wage arena? A person with a College Degree, Certification(s) or Unique Special Skill(s) learned through supervised practice would warrant more than minimum wage. Sadly, many of the initiatives being pushed by Obama are degrading the qualities usually found in a college graduate/education and may degrade benefits usually afforded them.
Any allusion that a “major depression” will put the wealthy in food lines is simply comical. While some wealthy may be hurt by a severe depression I’d dare say the majority will do fine. A simple process of diversified investments will maintain them through any financial challenge. Even during America’s Great Depression, some businesses were thriving. The destruction of America’s economy during Carter’s time as president, the American people survived. Granted Obama has be more destructive however mostly to the middle class and action like increasing the minimum wage will only increase the income difference between the minimum wage earners and the wealthy while also further destroying the middle class.. When reflecting on Obama’s presidency we will find that he significantly increased the rolls of poor, sharply decreased the number of middle class and was a major benefactor to increasing the wealth of the wealthy!
You think there is such a thing as controlled caos and control in food rioting? The first place all hungry folks will turn to is rich folks and their gaitted communities. Storm their walls with all varieties of weapons and rape rob and pillage! 911 will be out looking for food for their families too!

From what I understand this thing isn't even ready to go yet and now you all are saying its going to cost more?

Wars like Iraq cost alot of money for years to come. It should have been paid for by pumping oil out of Iraq's massive reserves, but once cneney conned and deceived us into this lost war it was all on the American taxpayer. Iraq has the second largest reserves of oil and we could have so-called liberated them and had them pay for it but when you have greedy human flesh eaters like bush and cheney, hell they could care less.
