I graduated from Riverside Highschool in 2003 and now I am in the great city of philadelphia studying to become a PhD in gentic research. I lived in riverside my entire life. Before the brazilians, it was portugese. And I have one single thing to say, They have brought something to our little town that no one ever could. They brought pride. They brought business. They brought life. Life to a town that was loosing it.
Before the brazilians, all that I ever saw in my town park was drugs hanging around the jungle gym. By the time I was in my senior year, the only people I saw in the park were drunken kids. Some were my friends but the majority chased children away from the playgrounds. Once the brazilians came, they started putting up volley ball nets and playing games in the park. Some of my friends with no where to go started learning Capuero, brazilian martial arts. There is even a weekly school to teach english to the brazilians and portuguese to americans!
The Brazilians have taken nothing from this town. They have only come in offering what they have. They have opened stores in the deserted up-town region and have made friends with those whom are willing. These are hard workers from a completly different culture that are just looking for a place to call home. A place I call home is a place that I take care of. It is a place that I make as amazing as possible. That is simply what they are doing with riverside. They are making a new and wonderful home.
We need to work together to stop new illegal immigrants and legalize the ones whom are already here.
Come on nathan get real,is your real name Poncho?Who the hell are you kidding. These people brake the law and it's ok because they are latino and all american laws are racist? What is going to happen when 50 or 60 million of them are here and there are no more jobs left cutting grass? Becoming Illegal (From a Maryland resident to his senator)

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes
Senate Office Building
309 Hart
Washington DC, 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue
Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the
Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process
for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to
illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the
Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's
provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United
States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a
$2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a
good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started
before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes
every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of
taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can
apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result
for me and my
family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local
emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped
paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could
save almost $10,000 a year.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter
would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school
applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges
throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden
of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car
insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still
have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal
(retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would
be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,

Pete McGlaughlin

Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

"Any person who ... encourages or induces an alien to ... reside ... knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such ... residence is ... in violation of law, shall be punished as provided ... for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs ... fined under title 18 ... imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or

* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime. Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his or her work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

I have lived on the border of Riverside for 25 years. I pretty much grew up in the town that now seems to be bringing so much attention to itself, and while I am ashamed of them, I am not suprised. It has always, ever since I remember had a loser mentallity, where it was cool to be the bad one. The hatred most people in Riverside have for the Brazilians is for their own lack of work ethic and family values they have been forced to watch by the Brazilian people.
I know many of the Brazilians and I speak a good deal of their language, so I know how they feel. The business owners are going to be ruined they tell me, and in a town that hasn't had that many stores open since 1966. 40 years of bars, proof being the Guiness book record of having the most liquer licenses per 1.5 square miles some time ago. Along with the shafting of a pipeline called a light rail that didn't do sqwat for any economy it runs through, nor eliminate any major traffic burden. In fact, it's the biggest pain in the ass to deal with living in Delran near the tracks, or driving by them.
So get your heads out of your asses and look at places like Newark that embraced the community and now has an entire section of the city with businesses flourishing and people of all races bustling and buying items which creates tax revenue for everybody. Unlike the welfare that has genrally funded the section 8 housing in Riverside with little improvement if any amongst the poor whites and blacks. Remember, some of these Brazilians have to pay rent, food, plus a large fee to get in the country if they came illegally, or legally. It isn't cheap to come and set up in America at the exchange rates for the Rio to the Dollar, but they make it. So stop the hate and go to work Riverside. Buy your own white vans and bust your asses, or shut the hell up.
Patrick, you are so full of Sh#t! What the hell don't you understand about ILLEGAL? I wish about 25 would just move into your house, would you sit there and cry or kick their ass out? That's the same thing they are doing to our Country!

I work for the IRS and I can tell you that large numbers of immigrants do pay taxes. In fact when they do they are not give the Marriage Deduction or the Child tax credit. I can't get into details about why, but they do get certain numbers which denote if they are immigrants, we know when we see the number. They pay an increased tax rate so it almost seems like a disincentive for them to pay tax. They are not allowed to take the Earned Income Credit either. Please never cheat on your taxes, we can find you and have records of every single stock you own, and have ever owned not to mention every address you have ever lived at. It is kind of scary how much and how detailed the information the government has on Legal citizens and Illegal immigrants. The most fraud I have seen is from small business owners who use the EIC to pay their taxes. I evaluated about 80K returns from immigrants last year. They really get screwed when they try to pay taxes. You would be upset if you had to pay their tax rates.
Where do they get a LEGAL Social Security card?

Funny how NO demand is made on them to learn ENGLISH, but Police Officers, and personnel have to learn their language and provide translators at taxpayers expense. The IRS needs to give these "illegals" a tax number so that they can be employed and OMG " PAY TAXES", until the federal government gets the thumbs out of their ass's.

Thats because the illegals are to lazy and stupid to learn english and the democratics are too busy and worry more about Alberto Gongales who fired these prosecutors for being soft on illegals who should have been in jail but where let back into our country to commit more crimes, some against children.

well maybe you should get on the governments butts about it. a friend of mine is a illegal alien right now due to the government making them wait 5 years or more before they become legal. he came from a place were there is no employment what was he supposed to do with a son and no job????he did what any parent would do found a better enviroment for his son and him so they could survive..now if they get into trouble then yea send them back...but there are hard working families here who don't deserve to be sent back after all they have worked for to be told sorry you can't live or work here....all of our relatives were all immagrants to this country so why don't we get sent back...thats not right at all

Any Idiot that complains about illegal immigration should get their ass to work! the illegals are not taking your jobs, your lazy fat ass just aint doing it. and who is gonna do it?(I'm not picking strawberry for 2.50 per bushell, yes per bushell) the same people that did it when this great nation was first build. honest, hardworking, determined, FIRST GENERATION AMERICANS our fore fathers worked too hard to put this great country together for your racism to take it apart. this country was build and will continue to thrive with immigration, that is the glue of our land. We just got lucky to be born americans I know boat loads of people that would give their right arm to have our rights, you voted them in office you can impeach them but dont do it for the wrong reasons. this country was build by immigrants, you would refer to them as illegals (no pilgrims had greencards) but any real american with red, white, and blue pumping thru their veins would welcome more building blocks, this country is not done growing it still has a lot to go in 1900's the head of the patent office wanted it closed because "anything that could be invented already was" the automobile assembly line came along in 1905. Dont be a jackass, immigrants made this nation and you should be thankful you are here no matter who you are. THERE ARE NO BORDERS IN HEAVEN!
