Of course there was a Jack in the box on High my brother worked there. I'm sure he'll jump in soon- So I'll try to get the jump on him.! The apple orchard on sunset? The Pine tree inn (neck and sunset?)? Montesero's lawn mower repair, The sunset inn, Old man Ballinger walking with a 400 pound load of wood on his back, The plastic santa clause head on Ballingers door for 30 years in a row, Sterling Acres, second lake, "The pond" (even before Adams pond), Mills Harley Davidson, Tony's Pizza, Pop's and Lincoln cold cuts in Farnersville, The Green stamp store, Shop Rite (even before Pathmark) Pathmark Drugs (Shop Rite Drugs), Tenneco (next to Beverly Road School. Anyone remember the teachers at Sprigside?? Mrs. Wolf, Mrs wilson, Mrs. Whittaker, Mrs. Pittman, Mrs. Langdon, Mrs Lorenz????

I was born in Burlington in 71,but moved to Medford before I was ten.My grandmom still lived on High street(directly across from springside school)so I would vist all the time.We would walk up to Mattson's for ice cream(they made theyre own). The house I lived in was on Columbus road by what was 5 points intersection.Across the street from us was a farmers field but it is now "Steeple chase". We would walk a block down to 7-11 to get slurpee's. Some other things I remember growing up in Burlington include..
Sylvan Lakes
Kiddie city
The bakery on High street near 130
The laundramat across from the bakery.
The old Acme. "super-saver"
Holiday Lake
Willingboro Plaza (IT SEEMED SO BIG as a kid) they had a circus come to the parking lot one year.
Connie Curtains Marina(spent many summers there)
Although I lived about a mile or more from the Bristol Bridge, I could climb a tree in my yard and see it easily!
Stewarts drive in on 130.
I would enjoy chatting with others who have similar memories. [email protected]

The Beverly Road Firehouse Dance. The Pheasant Inn (Henry's Bar) on 130. Any members of Uncle Warren's Chess Club out there? It's was back on a dead end across from Laurel Hill cemetary. Uncle Warren was the bus man at Burlington diner in early 70's. The colored candy store smack dab in the middle of the colored country ghetto otherside of 130. Sorry for the language I can't remember any other way to discribe it and nothing racist is meant by it.

That information is incorrect. The Burlington center Mall is or was bought by a new owner and is going to be revitalized. It's clearly about time! http://www.phillyburbs.com/my_town/burlington...

Robert Hall's clothing store at Sunset and 541.
The "pits" on the delaware near The TP bridge. If you were lucky, cops would confiscate your beer for themselves and just send you on your way.
Hanging out at Smith School in city on weekend nights.
Tony's at the end of High St (now Cafe Gallery). Parents would take us there on Friday nights.
Working at Gregory's with Spezzano, Jackamonis(RIP) and F Leroy(RIP).

Wow! I enjoyed reading all these posts! I am about the age of some of the commentators, probably a little younger, but I just moved to Burlington about 6 years now and have kid now, we are slowly finding the cool parks, and hidden treasures the area has to offer, I grew up in a small town in Central Jersey, but have similar memories of now defunct arcades, Drive-ins, and small pizza/ice-cream shops!
To update:
-yes Slyvan lake is still run and operated by Twp., passes for season are reasonable but you can get "shut out" on popular days.
-There is an Italian restaurant that makes gelato and hand turned Ice-cream on Sunset, maybe new, last 8-10 years or so?
-There is no more Drugstore at Sunset and Salem. but further off the 7-11 is there and still see kids walking to and fro!
-B-City planted a Christmas tree (near the Anchor) at the renovated River side Park, My wife and I say it planted and take our pitcher in front of it every year! I used to be the same height, it's now 20 feet tall or so, there is also a built up fitness trail along the Delaware, with little stations for pull-up, etc, including some weights that are tethered, Very nice!
-The B-City improvements are helping in the past 6 years I have seen more out of town plates and even ran into a couple from Vermont, staying at a B&B on High Street! So it's great to have a nice scenic place to picnic and listen to free concerts in the summertime so close to home!
-I have to find Mill Creek Park, if I do I will let you know if they have a UFO like object!

Was Burlington Twp. always kind of a black town or was it like Willingboro which was white then turned black?

Ron, what years are you talking about? I lived a block from the 7-11 at 5 points intersection there.I was born in 71 and lived there till 1978. My house was right off Columbus road.Do you remember the siren(really LOUD long and winding siren) at the Fire-house going off all the time? We had dogs in our yard that would howl along with the fire siren. What a memory as a kid! I loved living there and getting slurpees at the 7-11.My Dad would talk about Stevens station, but I never really knew much about it.Funny thing is that there is still a sign for it right on 130 at neck road.
i went to pinewald the year it opened i believe 1968then to the high school for 7th 8th 9th and 10th
so that would be up to 1972 so was really before your time but i lived in stevens station which is still there.its only 4 blocks long off of neck road.i also remember playing in dultys woods when it was all woods.what part of my comment do you disagree?
