Im am so sorry to hear about my favorite 2nd grade teachers passing. I have such great memories of Mrs. Aucella. Her magic tricks that she used to do with her magic red velvet wand in class. She felt so bad because she wanted me in her choir but didn't have the heart to tell me how horrible my singing voice was. The last time I saw her was at my mom's memorial in Sherman Oaks and watching her peel out of the driveway in her huge blue Cadillac! She was still a ball of fire at the age of 87. She was at my side when I was in Northridge hospital after a very bad accident in 1977. She comes up in family conversations quite often on a regular basis and is always remembered fondly. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
I was surprised that the biggest and probably the happiest part of her life, teaching, was not mentioned in the article on her life.
Please forward me any further information on Lucy.
Sincerely,
Kevin Kary

Wow, another Kevin Kary. I didn't know there were two of me. After growing up in NY, Ohio, and Illinois, I now live in Wilbraham, MA. Never lived in California, although I have visited fairly often over the years.

a good portion of the end of the film was shot at the old plant:
it's the chase scene with Schieder & McDowell & their respective helicopters,
100% BULLSHIT. FIND THIS WEBSITE ONLINE. "OLD ABANDONED AIRFIELDS." ALL OF THEIR PHOTOGRAPHS THEY UPLOADED ARE ALL RE-EDITED. ALL OF MID-VAN NUYS WASN'T EVEN IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS. IT WAS A BIG NAVAL BASE IN 1939-1966 AND THIS JERK WHO POSTED THIS WEBSITE COVERED UP THE ENTIRE VAN NUYS, CA 91406. WHY? IS THERE SOMETHING THEY ARE TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND? IF THEY ARE GOING TO RESORT TO LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHOM ARE STUDYING HISTORY , THEY DON'T HAVE TO POST IT ONLINE. THEY CAN JUST TAKE THEIR ANGER AND GO WRITE A PAMPLET INSTEAD AND HAND THAT OUT TO THE CHURCHES. WHERE IS THE CEMETERY WHERE ENGINEERS OF THE P.E. RAILROAD FAMILIES AT? I WILL TELL YOU, ROSCO BLVD. AND WOODLEY AVE. CROSS STREET IS THE CEMETERY THAT STATION 90 LAFD KNOWS ABOUT THEY NEVER REMOVED OR RELOCATED THE DEAD BURIED MEN,WOMEN, AND CHILDREN WHICH ARE DEAD AND BURIED UNDER THAT STREET. 500 SOLIDERS ARE BURIED UNDER THE STREET AT DAILY DR. & WOODLEY. 500 HUMAN DEAD BODIES AND FIRE STATION 90 KNOWS IT IS TRUE, THEY NEVER ALLOWED THE CITY TO RE-LOCATE THE BODIES. THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES JUST CAME IN IN 1955 AND RAN A ST. OVER THE GRAVES. SICK AND EVIL. I AM YOUNG. MY FAMILY KNOWS. THEY GREW UP RIGHT THERE. A FARM HOUSE WHERE THE OLD AIRFIELD WAS THROUGH VAN NUYS AIRPORT. IT WAS A GOLF COURSE WITH A RACE TRACK. TELL YOU WHAT. I KNOW MORE THAN YOU. i THINK i SHOULD BUY UP ALL THE PROPERTY IN THE AREA SO THE CITY DOESN'T TEAR IT UP ANYMORE. GREEDY ASSES. I DON'T KNOW WHO'S GREEDY'R THE CITY OFFICIALS OF VAN NUYS, CA. OR THE FREAKIN' ENTIRE VALLEY VNY 1955 VAN NUYS AVIATOR'S AIRPORT THERE RIGHT THERE I SEE YOU FOOLS! I DON'T KNOW WHOS GREEDY'R ! THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AUTHORITIES ARE ASSHOLES THEY TRIED TO OVERRUN SOME PROPERTY IN THE AREA. THEN THEY TRIED TO MAKE SOME PROERTY OWNERS LOSE THEIR LAND BY HAVING THAT STATION90 WOODLEY FIRE DEPT. START SHIT WITH LAND OWNERS. I THINK THAT STATION 90 SHOULD MOVE BACK INSIDE THAT AIRPORT AND SHUT THE FUCK UP AND BECOME A LICENSED FIRE DEPARTMENT. BECAUSE IF THEY WANT TO GO AROUND PULLING PEOPLE'S FEELINGS AROUND.... "SHOP-TALK" SHITFUCKS, THEN THEY SHOULD DIG UP THAT CEMETERY THEY ARE BUILT UPON. THAT IS JUST SICK. BUILD A FIRE DEPARTMENT ON TOP OF 250 DEAD NAVY SOLIDERS FROM WWII . THAT'S A SHIPWREAK WAITING TO HAPPEN OVER THERE.

A circa 1920s aerial view of Rogers Airport.
According to K.O. Eckland, Rogers Airport opened in 1918
at the northwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard & Crescent Avenue (now Fairfax Avenue).
It had a single 1,800' dirt runway.
The pictures above show that the airfield had several hangars & buildings.

described Rogers as having an 1,800' east/west runway.

Rogers Airport was evidently closed (for reasons unknown) at some point between 1929-41,
