Irrational and ignorant as usual.<quoted text>
My response was well thought out and logical. You asked why heterosexual people should support gay marriage. I responded. Then you asked why I don't support other forms of "marriage equality", such as polygamy and incest. And I told you very clearly that I HAVE supported other types of marriage equality; namely heterosexual marriage.
OK, I won't support SSM any more than. Deal?<quoted text>
I will not support polygamy nor will I support incestuous marriages.
These types of marriages are fraught with abuse and other damaging dynamics--enmeshment, jealousy, poor boundary divisions, abuse (physical and sexual, esp. in incestuous marriages), etc.
Yeah, so it's OK so long as it is only happening in heterosexual or homosexual relationships?<quoted text>
I fully realize that these types of problems can occur within traditional heterosexual marriages. However, we have methods in place to deal with them.
Like I said- irrational and ignorant.
So because YOU think it's an issue, it must be one? How about the child who feels neglected by their mother because they don't have one in a same-sex male relationship?<quoted text>
We do not have processes in place to deal with the issues that a child would experience should he or she feel neglected by a parent who has not only multiple spouses, but also has multiple families.
Again- irrational and ignorant.
Procreation has nothing to do with marriage, remember?<quoted text>
We are not prepared to deal with a young woman who has been sexually abused and impregnated by her father--a man who now wishes to marry his her.
Really? Now allowing something means you can be forced into it?<quoted text>
If incestuous relationships become acceptable, this young woman would have little recourse in her attempts to refuse her father's attempts to forcibly marry her.
Interesting. How many males or females will be forced into same-sex marriages once it is legalized?
Again- irrational and illogical.
Not really issues at all, much like you whine about people generalizing the "horrors" that will come from same-sex marriage legalization you have done the same in each of these cases.<quoted text>
These are only a couple of many, many examples of the issues that plague polygamy and incest.
You confuse "support" with understanding that your "equal rights" argument is invalid when you are willing to invalidate the right's of others just because you don't like it.<quoted text>
If others here truly want to support those kinds of marriages, then that's their prerogative. But it's my prerogative to not support them.
I support marriage between two, consenting, unrelated adults.
