Talk about spin.....Carson & Narbonne?
A few years ago "the people" kicked a fellow student to death at that Narbonne....Top in the country? Bull Sh**
and there YOU go once AGAIN! Get over it.. it happened in the 90's!
I bet you are one of those involved in the whole Narbonne High and Wilmington High(haha Banning) rivalry. Pathetic! Go "fix" your own neighborhoods and school. I'm sure Carson and Narbonne do way better than your Wilmington High.
By the way, I have to agree.. what happened with Torrance high schools? I know they are better than lausd schools!

I agree with Hermosa World Watcher...who care how many people took the test...anyone can sign up for AP tests. You don't even have to take the AP class.
Scores are the true indicator. By the way, I heard more than 25-30 kids were caught vandalizing Mira Costa High School last week. Can someone tell me why the Daily Breeze didn't cover this?
The Daily Breeze did cover the story, But you probably couldn't read it since you probably "graduated" (and I use that term loosely) from Narbonne or Carson.

Wow where did that come from...I heard from my 15 year old daughter that a lot of kids came back to school Thursday night and pulled a senior prank.
From the little I heard it wasn't very creative and cost thousands of dollars to fix the doors and locks that they super glued. Aren't you just a little touchy?!

The way this was done any school can manipulate the end result. They did not even use the test scores in their analysis. They just used the number of students taking college prep classes and divided it buy the number of gradutes. A school like Narbonne can encourage as many kids as possible to enroll in the class and manipulate it so they pass the class. They can do this by curving the grade or giving easy extra credit to help booster grades. This is acutully done in one of the LAUSD listed above. What a joke.

AP tests are not subject to grading on the curve. They are national tests for college level Advanced Placement courses taught in the high schools. The tests are in May. Students have to register and pay in advance to take the tests. Passing the class is not equivalent to passing the test. In fact I know people who got low grades in the high school AP class and got the highest scores (5) on the test. Only the AP test score matters.

Again? Thought this prank was pulled off by the school board member's kid several years back. Only a slap on the wrist instead of suspending the perp. Rank has its privileges.

I attended Westchester back in the 70's, and let me tell you, we were tops academically in the LAUSD, before everything changed. I just attended my 30 yr reunion, and among the alums, there were 9-10 doctors, numerous engineers, teachers, scientists and business owners and managers. It's really sad how my alma mater has gone into disrepair.

All I have to say is rumors. Not everything you hear is true. Dummy.
