We are coming to Flager Beach on vacation next month. We have never been to the area does anyone have any suggestions on any attractions we shouldn't miss in the area or any good resturants to eat at while visiting? And after some of the internet things I have seen should we worry about sharks? Thanks to anyone help.:)

Flagler Beach is one of the few places along, not only Florida's coast, but the east coast of the US that some can enjoy the ocean w/o looking between high rise condos or hotels. We moved to Flagler Beach 7 years ago from Miami.
We love it here! We live right across the street from the ocean. We wake up to the sun rising over the ocean! Flagler Beach is like a beach town standing still.....meaning only 2 franchises in all of Flagler Beach (Dollar General & Ace Hardware) everything else are mom/pop restaurants, shops, etc. As far as attractions, in Flagler Beach....you have the ocean to entertain you....a new and different show everyday!! Just 15 minutes north of Flagler Beach on A1A is Marineland......a dolphin research center you could visit for $5 a person!
Thirty minutes north of Flagler Beach straight up A1A you will find the beautiful old town of St. Augustine! Head South on A1A and 20 minutes later you will find yourself in Daytona Beach. Flalger Beach is not a touristy place, it is a place to grab a book, a lounge chair, a towel, put your bathing suit on and head to the beach. Many public walk overs from A1A down to the beach. Suggestion.....go about 10-15 streets north and you might find yourself the only ones on the beach! Nice!! Where to eat....the Blue if you want really nice food with a view; Fisherman's Net with a great view and delicious sweet potatoe fries and fish; Sally's for great ice cream, Rocky's for a slice of pizza and a cold drink after sitting on the beach; you have to sit on top of the Golden Lion's Restaurant especially right before sunset (the sun sets in the West, but reflexs off the Atlantic ocean....it is beautiful)...great food; For breakfast go to the European (I forgot the name) Bakery....just north of the pier in a purple house....GREAT CREPES AND SCONES! Visit the Beach Beanery for coffee and a key lime treat.....and visit the shops next door! Have fun!!!

Forgot the sharks......that's just it....in 7 years I have seen one shark and my family surfs and they have never had a problem. If you look closely enough you might see a couple of dolphins swimming past. If you were here in February, you might see a whale or two. If you see 4 sticks tied together up by the dune, then a turtle has laid it's nest there. You have to get up really early in the morning to catch a turtle laying its eggs. I live 4 miles north of the pier and in the past year I have seen 2 bobcats in my backyard, a deer and doe in my front yard and a bear drinking out of my neighbors fountain. Flagler Beach is still full of wildlife. It's great! Sharks are not a problem! Flagler Beach is the best. A friend of ours just bought a 2 bedroom/2 bath/2 story condo right across the street from the ocean, nothing in the way of her view.....for less than $170,000.00....who knows you might visit and never want to leave!!! We stayed!

Make sure you also go to that "purple house" someone alluded to. The name is Maggie's, and the food, service and ambiance is SUPER.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Aquarius

You're full of energy and determination right now, especially when it comes to nailing an ambition or making a name for yourself. You'll want to give it your best shot, and you'll get very annoyed if you feel your efforts are being frustrated by others. Watch out for a rather tense atmosphere with someone older or more influential than you, as this could lead to a row.
