The economy is actually great now and Pueblo is growing and I've
heard that there are alot of new jobs. It is a growing community.
I moved because my husband wanted to further his career so
here I am. But I miss Pueblo so much!! I just moved two yrs ago but always visit. My whole family lives there. Why do you want to move to Pueblo? I'll read your post tomorrow getting off work now. Have a nice day:.)

Well I'm looking for a little nicer climate , than Wisconsin , it just gets a little too cold for me in winter, and I like more sunshine , we only have around 220 days a year here. First I thought Colorado Springs might be nice , but then I noticed Pueblo , seems to have a nicer climate . A little warmer , and a little more arid it seems , and a smaller town. I'm used to snow , you get a little more per year than we get , but people say it melts fast there and you have warmer days in December and January than we do. Housing seems to be more reasonable there too. It looks like a nice place , so i'm investigating a little . I appreciate your comments. You have a nice day too :)

A somewhat different perspective - I live in Pueblo currently but am not from here. I wouldn't agree that the economy or the job market are very good. They might be "better" than before, but not booming. Much of the recent economic "growth" is from an influx of people who work in Colorado Springs but who want cheaper housing. There is a large community of commuters (including my husband and myself - he's from Pueblo). If you are in a professional/business career, I would definitely recommend research on employment opportunities before you come. Keep in mind that although housing is cheaper, the average income is smaller too. Also, you might find it a little too hot here. I do, and I'm from the deep South originally. Do move to Colorado--it's wonderful. But visit Pueblo before you decide to move here. I liked Colorado Springs much better (my apologies to Emiliana--it is true that there are nice people here). I hope this is helpful.

Thanks Denise , I plan on visiting both places , I've never been in Pueblo , but had a short stop in the " Springs " as I was told it's sometimes called , I liked what I saw , but was curious about Pueblo . My wife is an Elementary School Teacher , licensed in Wisconsin , Florida and she would qualify for a Colorado License , I already have the forms . I fool around with Real Estate , rentals , buy , remodel , and that , so I'm looking for a place that has an active Real Estate market , which probably would be The Springs , rather than Pueblo . Her teaching opportunities would most likely be better in the Springs also . You mentioned the Deep South , well I've been to Florida so many times to visit , but I couldn't take that constant humidity , thats unbearable most of the time , for me anyway . So Thanks alot for your comments , I appreciate that . Have a nice day :)

It's awful, everything you own will be stolen from you. The economy is strangled and the people are all fucked up.

If you want to move to the " Home Of Zeroes " which IS Pueblo, I strongly advise you to reconsider where you would like to move to in Colorado. Anything north or west of Pueblo is a much better option. Pueblo sucks, the people suck and it's the most crime ridden little town in the state. And very racist. Anything you own will be stolen from you, folks are two faced and gossip about everything and everyone, no one is a " real friend " and if you want to be hit up for money everywhere you go, Pueblo has that. It's funny how people bumming money for gas seem to run out of gas parked perfectly in a parking lot, they never run out of gas going down the road or anywhere most people would run out of gas, no they run out of gas in the parking lots of King Soopers, Hollywood Video, Safeway etc... and they are parked perfectly. NOBODY RUNS OUT OF GAS AND CAN PARK LIKE THAT, unless of course they push the car into the parking space but when this happens day in and day out and it's the same people, or a group of them doing it, coincedence is out the window. Pueblo is the " HOME OF ZEROES " not the " HOME OF HEROES. " Just ask the guy that got flipped off by a woman that ran a stop sign and nearly hit him, THEN actually turned around to chase him ( SHE WAS THE DEFINITION OF ROAD RAGE ) how he feels about calling the police and being told there was nothing they could do. LMAO, even the police are fu**ed up. The only thing good about Pueblo is how it looks in the rearview mirror. What I would like to see happen I can't say lol.....

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT, IT'S GREAT TO KNOW SOMEONE ELSE SEES WHAT PUEBLO REALLY IS ABOUT. It sits in a hole lol, says a lot as far as I am concerned and even the weather hates Pueblo, if you notice, when it storms, be it rain or snow, Pueblo never gets much of anything. I have nothing nice to say about Pueblo, NOTHING.

My husband and I were born and raised and raised two children in Pueblo. This is a great place to live, we have NOT have everything we own stolen and are NOT f****d up, nice language by the way. This is a very family oriented town that is growing and getting better and better. We can get across town in 15 minutes and don't sit in traffic jams like in Colo Spgs. We are in the "Banana Belt", of Colorado. Most of our days are sunny. We do get up to 100 in the summer, but only a few days. We don't get the super cold, and the storms do seem to go around us alot. We have traveled alot, and always enjoy coming home. Thanks for listening!

My perspective, i grew up in the area, i've tried unsuccessfully for years to get a well-paying stable job here. i've mostly worked temp jobs since moving back from out of state followin a layoff; on average for $12 an hour, anywhere from $7.50,$8 or $10 an hour. i've been moved back to the region for 6 years, 2 of them unemployed, 2 of them underemployed, and 2 of them decently employed with benefits. I have a good set of skills, a master degree, certifications, decent experience. it hit me like a ton of bricks when i worked hard to go through a hiring process with the city, had all my ducks in a row, pretty sure on the deal, part of an under-represented group in this profession, only to not get the job. Today I can say "thank you pueblo" for knocking me around for so long despite my very best efforts to beat the "politics" everyone chants about, I finally got the hint I'm not what you want. Anyone wanting to move here should visit first for at least a week, see what culture and activities the city offers, and by all means have a career before you even think of moving here. My personal opinion would be there are a lot of beautiful cities with beautiful culture, pueblo is not a place I would recommend to anyone if you have a choice.

...oh ya and speaking to rudeness here, and I only give you my opinion and my experiences so don't bash me: I had this guy follow me to work in a big fat ford f-350 and call me repeatedly stupid a**hole, b*tch, f*cking b*tch. I didn't engage i don't want to be shot. what did I do to make him so mad? I took a turn lane before him and I drive something smaller then him. Big man following a lone female in a car 2 miles just to be verbally abusive. I've never even flipped anyone off in this town.

Wow! What has happened to my birth place? Such negativity! First of all, all cities have "good and bad" influences. However, if you don't care for whatever you think is dragging Pueblo down....don't just sit there and "b*tch", whine, complain, and/or the like. Get off your duff and do something about it. It has to start with you! Quit throwing your words to the wind and place them where they truely make a difference. Let your concerns be know to leadership. Get others involved to get the point across. But it has to start with you! You are not the only one out there with the same feelings. DOING NOTHING GIVES MORE GROUND TO THE OTHERSIDE!! Take courage...take your stand!
