Somebody is missing a critical point in transportation. We need desperately a modernized train system comming through York once again. If we want to really cut down on traffic increases and allow many York countians to have more opportunity to obtain good jobs outside of York, or Pennsylvania. A modernized high speed train system is the answer. We could have the train system go right down the middle of 83 and have the main system going from east to west right through the middle of 81.
I have been thinking of this move for decades, and it is the most cost effecient and most logical method we could do for York and all of Pennsylvania. This should be connected with Maryland and New Jersey. Can you see how this would open up job employment for all of us? I have more detailed direction and ideas of how this could be accomplished. Why not think outside to box isn't that where real progress comes from?

When I hear "growth" I think "TUMOR"

The cancer is out of control.

All that high speed rail would do is feed the cancer. Do we really want to look like north Jersey? Do we really want the urban apes to commute in reverse like they do along the Maryland light rail, plundering everything within a mile of the light rail stations while the homeowners work in the city.
Thieves and victims pass each other at the evening commute.

The York County Planning Commission is still smoking from the same pipe as RAYAC. Previously, the chant was that all of the 40K employees coming to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds would want to live in York County, a figure now revised downward to 2K, max.

The fact of the matter is that York County will be shrinking in the future as our industrial base further erodes(read: Harley closing), and the sorts of new jobs that are being created won't allow opportunities for homeownership. York County will get poorer and greyer, as the existing population ages in place, and educated young folks move elsewhere to seek employment that doesn't involve loading trucks or emptying bedpans.

YCPS and RAYAC should turn their attention to creating safe, walkable neighborhoods in York City, where street and utility infrastructure already exists. We don't need car-dependent phony TNDs in the suburbs, nor do we need a $100 million redo of the I-83/Mt. Rose Avenue inerchange.

With the crash of the over-heated no-money-down real estate market and the inevitable approach of $4/gal gasoline, the days of building more suburban execu-barns to accomodate Baltimore commuters have come to an end.

your right but the people in the capital think it makes more sense to run it from carlisle to lancaster instead of from the md line thru york to harrisburg! look at the population of harrisburg-carlisle-lancaster( pop.936,130) york-harrisburg-baltimore area(pop.1,271,004) which one makes more sense?

did you ever look at the size of that area compared to the york & lancaster size there is only so much land available to build on and if iam not mistaken taxes are lower in pa than md.

You know more people might take you seriously if you didn't use the term "urban apes". Just saying.

The county commissioners are just a bunch of money hungry idiots. Look at HighPoint. Instead of letting the family sell a little land to pay their tax bill, the commissioners decided to SPEND our money on a park that will continue to be funded through OUR MONEY. How much sense did that make? And now they are going to screw up some more and spend MORE of OUR MONEY-wastefully. They must have gotten their start on a local school board.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Taurus

Time is hurtling towards Christmas Day and it seems that you're in a panic about how you're going to get everything done in time. You may even have reached the stage where you've ground to a halt because you don't know what to do first. So take a deep breath, calm down and do things one at a time. Otherwise you'll end up feeling confused, tired and tearful.
