The agenda for Tuesday's Richmond City Commission meeting was amended at the last minute to include an order allowing city land to be leased for an RV park at Camp Catalpa. via Richmond Register

This is a bad idea. sure it will look nice. but then you get all the redneck midnight drunks that think they can jet ski across the lake. you just wait & see. sounds like another good place to sell drugs like the little rv park under the old claysferry bridge. some of those people have been there for years. if you dont believe it. go look for your self. not everything is needed or good for the people. y'all just dont think things thur do you. I agree, look at the condition of Lake Reba now. I bet within a year of the RV park being open the lake will be a dump due to the trash. I wouldn't try eating the fish out of it now, but can you imagine whats going to be in the water now. The only thing they are looking at is the money that will be lining their pockets. They don't realize the effect its going to have on the wildlife around the area as well as the fish in the lake. A big thing around here is the Catalpa Worm, I don't think I need to explain any more with that. But you have birds that live there due to the lake and Kentucky is supposed to pride there selfs on it's wildlife. As far as I see it, Lake Reba is ruined. Between the noise from the pool and the drunks at the RV park, it will be ruined. I have grew up here in Richmond and its sad to see it go to shit like it has. But I'm gonna stick around and yall are going to hear me for a while to come.

I understand there's a group called "Save Camp Catalpa" that is trying to prevent the destruction of this bird sanctuary. They have an ad in the Richmond Register about a meeting tomorrow (3/20) at Central Bank (Main and Lancaster)from 7 to 9 pm... check it out... might be fun to join this movement and help stop the destruction of Lake Reba.

I'd like to know which city employees, attorneys, etc are involved with getting this passed. Any confilcts of interest, future money in their pockets if the RV park fails. I'll be one of the many at City Hall Wednesday showing support for saving this tranquil piece of property. It's a shame what one will do to line their pockets with money. Destroy what was given to us to take care of. Shame on you!

Rednecks like "Daniel Boone" are giving your town a bad name with his comments like above. My wife and I were planning to move to this area but when we read the crap and drivel that passes for community comments on Topix, it is sad and makes us reconsider moving. Has anybody graduated from high school in your community?

Appearances, not to worry. Daniel Boone is a minority. Please visit the community and see for yourself. A growing retail base, more and more industrial companies based here, low unemployment rate when compared with the state, LOTS of recreation, etc.

Its sad when a squeaky wheel is the only voice heard sometimes. Human nature to complain i think sometimes. D. Boone leads a sad life where nothing has gone his way. BIG surprise.
